Google did the Nexus Player with Android TV, and I haven't heard anything about it since it came out. There was also the Nexus Q a while ago but that was before Android TV and also a massive failure.

How can I be guaranteed (for lack of a better word; I know it's not guaranteed ) that 1Password is secure, given that it isn't independently auditable? Same goes for LastPass, as a side note.

Kiki is still the cutest. She's more important than she seems - branding is everything, and Krita has one of the best mascots in FOSS, a field in which aesthetics has traditionally not been a priority. How better to spread a program fo

This might be right, but n is so small that the results are meaningless. This field is so complex and the variables innumerable that n = 40 per app cannot possibly result in trustworthy findings. I don't mean to disparage the aut

Off the top of my head: - Google Wallet - Square Cash (now "Cash App") - Venmo (blegh. Owned by PayPal) The first two allow you to send and receive money via a debit card, no direct banking info needed. I've never used Venm

The metaphorical Pandora's box has been opened, and the contents aren't going back in. Best we can hope for is practical legislation. The EU is ahead on this one. Its GDPR is going to throw a massive wrench in these practices.

That has to be the most idiotic emoji implementation - clearly not what the Unicode Consortium intended, and borderline against the specification.

I thought the same until I saw that this is being done by the state. Perhaps it is simply laziness. It's far easier to have a whitelist than a blacklist.

This article is from 2006. It's interesting but I'd hazard a guess that it's hardly relevant to what Google is doing now.
