The Schulze method would probably appeal to HN readers, and it has a bunch of advantages. (Vote tabulation by digraph.) Good luck explaining it to laymen, though.

If you wish to make a change, support the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC). To put it simply: if enough states join the compact such that their combined electoral votes sum to 270 or more, all states in the compact become bo

Yeah. Android is not like iOS or Windows for mobile. Default apps are handled much like on Windows, even down to the home screen. If you install a new browser, for example, then it will give you the option to change the default the next tim

This sounds useful for gaming where key bindings change per game...unfortunately it doesn't have mechanical switches and has flat keys, making it all but worthless for that purpose.

It's still copyright infringement so you might as well just torrent the shows.

How long are the batteries going to last? With phones, we expect the battery to deteriorate after a couple of years. This is an investment. Will it need to be replaced in a few years' time?

The point of unions is to give workers bargaining power where they previously had little or none. In programming, good talent is in short supply and there are plenty of job openings. As a result, the worker holds all of the chips, eliminati

CS:GO is the most tragically neglected of the major e-sports. It succeeds due to its source material. Case in point: Overwatch is neutered. CS:GO competitive servers have a tick rate of 64 (that is, per second), which is already considered

Switch uses a different architecture (ARM) than the Wii U (PowerPC) so straight-up playing games off the original discs won't happen. They'll have to be re-released.

It wasn't much better. The cameras on the 3DS are absolutely garbage. AR was a fun pack-in distraction.

My guess: being on one of the top lists in an app store is a ton of exposure. One of the biggest problems with selling apps is getting people to know it exists. Once it fell off the top paid apps list, it suddenly got far, far harder for

Google has a problem...they have too many god-damned products. The spring cleanings are a symptom. They even have multiple products in the same category. Ars did an article on this a while back, they should do another.

There is zero surprise. When a Three Letter Agency wants information, they get it. The current United States government is the most powerful single entity to exist in human history (insofar as it can be called a single entity). Especially t
