Can you do rubber duck learning with any topic? I always wanted to learn Fourier transformations and related topics, but I completely forgot all high school and uni math, so I have to start from scratch and it seems like a huge commitement.

Can you expand on your second paragraph? I am at the stage where I start to ask the same questions and it would be educational for me to learn how others do it.

I am not from USA and the idea that a country limits the amount of doctors it produces sounds ridiculous to me.

Maybe one factor is that among all Activision-Blizzard subsidiaries Blizzard makes the least amount of money, around 1/5 according to the Q1 profits. Both Activision Publishing and King make far more money by expanding into the most lu

On a related note, was watching Olympics yesterday. It was a shooting day, and I was kind of surprised that men and women competed separately. I understand separation in physically demanding sports like weightlifting, but pistol and rifle s

Isn't it what WSB is all about? Pick a stock, bet on it, and when you lose you post your loss porn to the subreddit? I assume people new to WSB will take this seriously, and it does pose a threat to the sub's health, but older mem

On the one hand I understand why YouTube does it. On the other hand, as a Russian citizen, I shudder to think what will happen if russian government asks YouTube the same thing in regards to our election results. Turns out, instead of playi

Is Boeing bleeding on 787 because of how groundbreaking the new plane is and all the baby problems that follow? Or because of mismanagement?

Well, they drove Bombardier CSeries (a small barely competing program with some potential) into the hands of Airbus (a huge threat with production and logistics capabilities) for free. In the end USA won (they got production of new aircraft

Can an airline really refuse an aircraft without wasting some significant amount of money? I assume the airline or leasing company start paying from the moment they place an order all the way through construction, finished by a final paymen

Isn't it because right now research is basically a zero sum game? A government sets a budget for research, so the more and the better papers the other lab publishes, the more funding they get and less funding YOUR lab gets.

From the top of my head, Boeing 787 fuselage sections are formed as a single tube (more advanced, more expensive) while a350 sections are formed from 4 separate parts (older, cheaper technology, easier to repair though). 787 Cockpit is made

Which is too bad since arguably 787 is a more advanced aircraft, while A350 is more conservative. Too bad Boeing management is bent on screwing Boeing engineers and their achievements.
