I keep hearing doomeries as "Laptops will kill desktops", "tablets will kill laptops". What's next? we're going to work on smartwatches? And here I am, with my desktop computer, comfy keyboard & screens, fu

For the faithful, racking up merit, studying etc are indeed noble pursuits no matter what. But I was more speaking about all the time spent in churches, praying etc in the mislead hope of having eternal life.

It is funny how one of the top comment is a very long debate about how this article is good or not, completely missing the point. The sooner you realize life is short, the more you will make smart use of your time. The same goes for faith:

Visual Studio is one of the best IDE out there, and it is likely to remain better than Rider for at least a while. It surely "comes close" ;)

Exactly, I've always used whatever hardware I wanted, and Linux mostly just worked. The occasional hiccups are proprietary Nvidia drivers, and some wifi chips being too recent and needing an open source driver readily available. I use

Yes, because in 2015 194kb is so incredibly much. Maybe the carriers' are sloppy and inefficient. See, whatever I do, when I access anything web-based on my mobile phone, it is slow. And I live in Paris. It's funny how suposedly t

No real special sauce, but you have winetricks which has a few things to help solve common problems, and then winehq.org to see if others made a particular software/game on Linux. I've found it to work remarkably well with games.

I think you're missing cromwellian's point: you could have made the same thing while upholding open values. For example if it was a rich client based on IRC, I could join in on a chat without being a slack customer. I could also b

This is such a big deal, and I feel like we are so powerless against it. If it was easy for governments to get the money owed, it would allow them to cash in votes for finally lowering taxes (in France especially...). The fact that they did

Not only this, but in the conclusion you get this pearl: "learning on your own is neither efficient nor cost-effective when factoring in time spent." And now everybody learns the same way? I can tell you that for a self-taught per

However in "bikeshedding", like-minded people tearing themselves apart over small things is a byproduct of the underlying problem: they're procrastinating the bigger issue.
