Why not? Computers do this all the time, why shouldn't humans?

You don't see the obvious dishonesty in how the author decided to interpret tptaceks claim about Telegram storing plaintexts of all messages? The author claims that this is "defamation" because Telegram uses FDE or a similar

How could this software have helped when the attackers had full access to the servers it would've been running on? Surely they could modify it to say and do whatever they want.

Hard to take this seriously, citing Durovs nonsense about best practices and backdoors and completely ignoring the fact that Telegram almost certainly shipped a backdoor! https://buttondown.email/cryptography-dispatches/

The traffic coming over Tor is completely different than the traffic coming over Hola & co. You can't seriously compare the two. Try signing up for a luminati account, they do pretty good KYC. Besides, the prices are probably going

100% of the exit nodes could be run by the NSA and Tor would still help much, exit nodes are supposed to be untrusted. I think the fact that (most?) DNM operators keep getting away with it is great evidence that nation states don't hav

It really is true. Ulbricht repeatedly made the incomprehensible mistake of logging into SR servers without using Tor. He would've been caught sooner or later because of just that. He even used his own photo on the fake IDs for SR serv

The silk road guy logged into his servers without Tor... Ulbricht just happened to do a particularly shit job hiding. On the other hand the operator of Dream Market is still free, after operating his site for almost 7(!) years.

Bullshit. The vast majority of DNM transactions are in bitcoin (yes, I know WHM is trying to change this).. Same goes for huge card shops like jstash, which tend to only accept bitcoin. On various crime forums like exploit.in and verified.s

It's akin to IPv4 and IPv6. IPv4 is obviously the worse tech, but because of the scarcity and network effects the value of IPv4 addresses will keep climbing.

I think in reality the risk of going to jail is far lower than you might assume. If you were worried, you could evade capture forever by just moving around with a bunch of prepaid SIM cards and a 4G modem that lets you change your IMEI. Eve
