Anybody here ever struggle with note-taking? I've spent many years trying to get good at it, but nothing really stuck until I decided to forget every buzzword I've ever heard and just do something simple. The rules of "Hypert

I had an absolute blast playing with p5.js in college - I made my own little cellular automata with it back in the day: https://ezhik.me/beyond184/ As a wonderful coincidence, the piece of digital art that got me inter

"Open source as a career enhancement" is a rather depressing take. I like computers and want to do more with them than just earn money. I want to call my silly code art. I want to have fun. I want to meet cool people. It's ch

That was my trick for Obsidian. No organization or fancy plugins, just interlinked notes. Backlinks alone work amazingly well for me for retrieval.

Now that's "resume-driven development". And hey, overdesigned or not, it's a resume that ended up on the front page of Hacker News, making it all worth it given what a resume is supposed to do.

Oh wow, I was actually worried about this - right now I have a small USB-powered display and a TrackPoint keyboard and was wondering about whether I could get a laptop shell that would just combine the two, but all I can find are either the

I love editing in Vim, but I definitely want nice things and IDE features. At this point I've had a better time getting Vim editing into VS Code than getting VS Code IDE features into Vim.

So many years of Mac OS and I still remap the keyboard to Cmd-Ctrl-Alt.

My Mac is limited to just one external display yet everything works just fine through a DisplayLink dongle.

I've had to make a bunch of Hammerspoon hacks for myself to make macOS remember where windows should be. In my experience macOS doesn't even remember where spaces should be.

I assume it's because .NET developers go home after their work day and do other stuff instead of posting about computers online.

The apps need to be refreshed weekly though, requiring me to connect my phone to my Mac. Right now my preferred approach is to make web apps, but Apple already tried to take PWAs away in Europe...

I just want to code and sideload my own silly little apps that aren't important enough to be in the App Store. I can do this on my Mac and it doesn't seem to explode because of it.

I wonder if there are any web rich text editor components that use attributed strings? Tired of the DOM.

Oh yeah, PowerToys are the best. I loved Zones so much I actually ended up trying to remake my setup with Hammerspoon when I moved back to Mac.

I always find myself missing the little things when I switch. They just bug me so much. It's stuff like: * Control and Command being separate buttons, so Cmd-C and Ctrl-C don't conflict in terminals * Being able to hold-then-drag

I jumped into Obsidian without looking at all those fancy systems people do and it's been great so far. I just focus on writing and linking notes and only ever customize and install plugins if there's something I really need but c

I'm learning Objective-C because I want to figure out how Cocoa and macOS work. Nobody makes Cocoa (AppKit) learning resources anymore, especially not in modern Swift, but Objective-C ones still work to this day. I'm sure I'l
