Arguably that first one is just substituting one Wat for another.

I learned a bunch of these when trying to make an f-string-like library for Lua [1], but `f"{...}" and the walrus ones caught me off-guard. Glad this is nowhere near Wat [2], though. [1]: https://ezhik.jp/f-string.

There's a Gmail account I've lost forever because Google wouldn't let me in even after doing 5 factor authentication (password, phone number, code from SMS, backup email, code from email).

I remember people would always be surprised about how home computer ownership was not that high but smartphones (well, Japanese "garakei") were were ubiquitous. I guess Japan was ahead of the curve once again.

Oh yeah, it's going to be really interesting when the hype dies down and we start seeing the actual good use cases get homed in.

I think calling me delusional for trying to understand the hype might be a bit much. It's not my own life I was describing.

And do what, given that AI-as-marketed optimizes out having relationships with people and enjoying art/cinema/music? Touch grass all by myself?

I feel it. We can debate AI over and over and over but my ultimate problem is not even the tech itself but the "whatever" part. I'm a bit annoyed with LLMs for coding, because I care about the craft. But I understand the prem

YouTube on my phone automatically replaces English audio with machine-generated Japanese audio. YouTube on my desktop computer automatically replaces Japanese audio with machine-generated English audio. It's honestly quite incredible.

I don't know about everyone, but I found the whole PKM/second brain "industry" a bit much, I was never able to stick to complex rules and things like atomic notes. Instead I mostly just write notes with hyperlinks: http

In my experience, people yearn for coding and modding. Given the tools a whole bunch of people will do domain-specific miracles using macros and other tools. I'm almost convinced that teaching programming is easier than teaching softwa

Kagi is so nice. Amazing that it's the first search engine I've seen that lets me do something as obvious as customizing ranking for certain websites. And, of course, the ability to block websites from search results entirely. It

Writing raw HTML is just not fun for some people. Obsidian is a nice middle ground between WYSIWYG and plain text - it doesn't send markup characters into the ether but at the same time does show you something close to the final text i

Rules 1 and 2 are how you actually organize notes. Instead of thinking about categories or tags, you just have interconnected notes. You use those connections to find the notes you need. Eventually, out of those connections, organic groupin
