(developer here) Interesting to hear that you think this is the opposite of how Obsidian works. I specifically opted for this approach so that these note codes are entirely independent of Obsidian itself and can be ported over to other solu

(developer here) Thanks for raising the birthday paradox problem. The search panel should show all the notes with the same code, so hopefully even with collisions you'd still be able to tell from context which note you're looking

I think Obsidian's fuzzy search already kind of works like that, but that's a really cool idea for generating codes.

Oh man, I actually used this guide when putting Mavericks on my old Mac! So damn nice. The UI is still so fresh. Neat that there's Firefox for it now. Last I tried it, I had to do Chromium-legacy, though I wouldn't exactly want to

One of the best things about Obsidian is that even all this new stuff is done through built-in plugins and can just be turned off.

Oh this is SO cool. Personally I've been doing a janky version of this on my iPad with the incredible Infinite Mac [1], but I wish there was something more native for it (or at least more Infinite Mac affordances for this type of use c

I really want to see more HyperCard-style data persistence, where both the code and the data are one one document, so this is cool to see. I was actually just playing with a similar concept, except as an Obsidian plugin: https://

A lot of complaints about Japanese IT feel blown out of proportion but I do have to admit that Japan is the only place where I encountered a website with working hours.

The one good thing about Apple is that they at least have the decency to shut the fuck up once you pay them. Meanwhile Microsoft kept showing me upsells in File Explorer to move this or that to OneDrive despite me already paying for the dam

Something feels a little off about calling it an "open source repo" rather than an "open source project".

The Fxtec is so damn cool if you can get your hands on one. It can actually straight up run Debian. I also managed to run VS Code on it natively via Termux. I also had a Gemini PDA, which is basically the Psion 5mx keyboard glued to a shitt

Secure ShellFish is a very nice app, absolutely worth the money. It's really nice to be able to do a bit of scripting. I don't even bother taking my laptop with me when traveling anymore, my phone/iPad and an external keyboar

In the end, the greatest use I get from coding agents and stuff is hijacking the Stack Overflow principle - it's much easier to trick myself into correcting the poor code Claude generates than it is to start writing code from a blank s

I honestly just can't vibe with the "don't customize because you'll log into other servers" thing. To me it feels like getting told to not put nice shelves in my home because other buildings don't have them.

Maybe the real problem to solve is not killing Excel but providing a pathway for load-bearing Excel sheets to grow into full applications, development practices and all.

If anything we need more Excels. Excel is coding for people who don't even know they're coding. Karen from accounting made an entire app even though she's not a "software developer" by trade and people think that&#x
