Well, no need to argue here anymore. Common sense won and Iceland will stay independent and happy.

So the question becomes, since Mexico is really really huge, why doesn’t the Mexican governemt do anything about these caravans? Not to mention that Mexico is pretty narrow at its southern end.

> The 'common market' is pretty valuable and it's what the focus should be. There is no such thing. Every country still has its own rules. You can’t even have the same Netflix across the EU, it is still fragmented at count

They did not really ditched the roaming fees. You get some free roaming with any plan, and if you go over it, you get charged. Yes, it is nice for a day or two in another EU country, but pretty much that’s it.

You know you can delete emails and messages you don’t like, right? And again, both genders can write good/bad software just the same.

Again, it was a nice dream 20-30 years ago. Today the EU is just a massive bureaucracy with nothing to show for. The single market is a joke, regulations on top of regulations and so on. Why would any sane country join?

Well, the US has a law called the Defense Production Act which, when invoked, compels companies to produce whatever Uncle Sam wants. I am not saying it should be able, it already is.

What I said is pertinent: Anthropic refusing to build software for autonomous weapons platforms is a national security issue. They have the capability, but they just don't want to do it because they don't feel like it. Soldiers do

Before bashing Trump for not liking Anthropic, people should consider the consequences of having the judiciary decide what software companies the government can and cannot use. You might get a petty win against the current administration, b

You can still get lost today if you want to. When I go to a new city, I find a landmark than take the train/bus/subway towards it but not to it. I get off ~ 3-5 miles away from it, then I try to find on my own navigating the stree

Improv is a very good hobby to have. It helps you to get out of difficult situations. One of the things done at an improv show is called "story in 4". To do a four-person improv story with random changes, have one player start a s

This does not answer my original question: why doesn't Britain give the north of Ireland back to the Irish? Why does it cling to it? Didn't Britain cause enough suffering for the Irish already?

It doesn't make it OK if a judge says you have to incriminate yourself or face jail time for not doing so. So either way you're screwed if it gets to that.

The way things keep devolving in Britain, the easiest path is to force everyone to wear a camera on their chest like the police do. Then you can arrest people who don't wear them because surely they have something to hide.
