Good luck with Legit Teams - one thing I'd highly suggest is introducing annual prices, at least as an option. There's no way I'm going through the hassle of expensing $5 a month, but $60 for a years service isn't going to raise any queries

It seems in the last hour or so, someone has uploaded a different Galaxy S3 benchmark which beats the iPhone 5. There's now an S3 benchmark with a score of 1628, which pretty much shows how silly the obsession with benchmarks are... http:/

Sometimes it feels that the more you know about "the system" as a whole, rather than your section, the less likely you are to be pigeon-holed into one role or another. This can be both a positive and a negative - your career won't follow th

I'm pretty sure doing the same job twice and measuring the time taken each time is a guarantee that whatever you do, it'll take twice as long and bore you to death...

I've never used Cassandra, but from what I'd read about Netflix and other's use of it, everyone used at least 32GB of RAM in each node? Am I totally wrong?

Strangely, I think almost the opposite - I think it'll take a lot of "scripting language" tasks, but not much of the system programmers jobs. Coming from a scripting language background, Go feels like a step forward in performance, without

It's certainly the new go-to programming language for blog posts about programming languages :) It's a very nice language, I like it a lot, but if there's one thing we all should have learnt over the last few years, it's that no programming

My beaglebone consumes about 1.7W so that sounds about right. One interesting thing is that the USB port being activated (even idle) can blow any power consumption by the CPU itself out of the water.

That's always possible, but why would the bug report linked from the code change be private then? http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=139744

Absolutely fantastic idea. I assume people have been doing this on a somewhat grey market up until now, so it's great that is now an approved system.

Seems like the Whatsapp iOS password generation isn't that different from Android. Via google translate: Granger also asserts that the same method is not applicable in the case of iOS devices, and which today still do not know the password

Not trying to be awkward or anything, but why would you use GAE without using all the technologies that lock you in to it? If you write a "vanilla" application which can run on GAE and other platforms without significant work, then I don't

It's interesting to see someone build a web service in Go. I've done a few fairly trivial projects in it to see how it works and really liked it, but web stuff doesn't seem it's natural domain. Has anyone used it with a nice HTML templating
