If it was a $50,000 car, I'd expect the police to put in a fair bit more effort to recovering it than a $50 kindle. When your cell phone gets stolen, the police are the right people to turn to, not your network provider.

There was a story on here the other day which basically revolved around people removing their credit card details immediately after purchasing domains, to prevent auto-renewals - they managed to mishandle removing their details, and deleted

You could just pop Varnish cache in front of Wordpress to do the same thing - any unauthenticated GET's will just hit Varnish, and come nowhere near Wordpress itself. That way you wouldn't need to worry about software updates.

Personally I think it's an awful diagram, it'll either confuse or mislead the vast majority of people who see it. The "best" is a personal opinion, but I think the best diagrams are ones that make something that's hard to express in words e

It's kind of sad to see the "What It's Like To Be Ridiculed For Open Sourcing A Project" and "I'm Sorry" stories just above this one, where Alan Cox essentially says his former colleagues have released an unusable distribution.

Unless the parent comment has been edited, I'm not sure what you think is libelous about it? It's certainly a questionable company, they either didn't bother to scan for open source software being rebundled, or deliberately chose not to sca

Unlike say a photocopier and a pair of scissors, or cutting a pasting a screenshot of a scanned document? It's always been trivial to forge a signature to pass cursory examination, this is just another easy way.

Exactly, I think you're 100% right. The real "war" is a price one. If Intel are willing to cannibalise their own per-CPU margins, they'll sell bucket loads of mobile chips. If they're not, then they won't - it's not much harder than that to
