It's not that people chose not to believe this, it's that the whole point doesn't make sense at all when looked at in detail. When asked to provide specific technical reasons for the existence of Mir beyond the nebulous ones

Thank you. I wanted to say almost exactly the same thing, but you worded it much better than I could have. Point number one in particular bothered me since both languages are transpiled (in both cases that just means types stripped). Howeve

This confuses me a bit, but I honestly have not spent a ton of time with Go, so perhaps you can explain. How exactly do you get simple cross compiling with OpenSSL using Go? Once you use an external library don't you lose all of Go

a. It seems you're conflating the deprecation of XUL/legacy extensions and the NPAPI plugins here. This current release removes NPAPI support which affects plugins only. Extension changes are coming in later releases. b. If they&#

Considering the potential size of pages and that this would mean the browser would have to keep around all of the unmodified source for all of those, I think it's a decently justified position. I will say that it would be nice if there

This is the way it should be in every browser, actually. View source (as in the raw non-corrected source) can take up a considerable amount of space since it's only ever needed when someone is viewing the source. Otherwise the "so

Except Mozilla had planned and announced this would happen at least a year in advance. On top of that Google also removed the same thing from Chrome a while ago citing the same reasons, it's just that they shoehorned in a fix for Chrom

Migrating issues and projects is pretty trivial since GitLab has an import tool specifically to pull things out of GitHub: https://docs.gitlab.com/ce/workflow/importing/import_project...

Considering Mozilla has been planning to remove support for NPAPI plugins for well over a year and had made public announcements of such and considering Chrome has already removed such support it actually is far less uncharitable. How much

Not that I don't disagree with the general idea of this post, but it's worth pointing out that while Rust is fairly young based on the 1.0 release date, there was a large amount of time prior to that where the language underwent a

You cut out some important parts of what you are quoting from. Although I can understand the confusion as the naming is less that stellar in this case. Let me quote part of this[1] in full and give a quick explanation of what's actuall

I certainly agree that an opinion piece like this has less weight than one which comes from someone who has spent a considerable amount of time with a language. However, saying that an opinion formed after only a few days is "worthless

I don't typically respond to comments like this anywhere, but I think this kind of view is dangerous to have. And it's one the Rust community at large seems to try to shy away from. This kind of attitude towards people trying out

I don't think it's fair to say that the option Rust gives you is more complex. It's a syntactic convenience which reduces the chance of a someone typing a mistake in the longer form. Regardless of how simple the language, the

I certainly wasn't commenting on the preciseness of React's diffing (and how they're able to reduce it from O(n) to O(n^3) by ignoring things). I was merely pointing out that it's possible to diff trees in polynomial tim

Trees are a special case of graphs in general, which aren't necessarily even NP-complete. In fact, if trees couldn't be diffed things like React would have serious speed concerns, or more realistically wouldn't even exist in
