I suspect what he meant was that Google would have to store your SSID to remember you opted out :) which is partially defeating the object. The more I think about it, the more this (i.e. Google's solution) does seem the most sensible solu

Great; so what is the alternative solution? I've been mulling it over and there simply doesn't seem to be a way. Google did indeed make a massive cock up over collecting the Wifi data - and taking them to task on that is a good thing. Deman

A fun quote, for sure. And of course there is a risk associated with being too clever for your own good. Which is where a good teacher comes in... :)

This. At school I was consistently the one who tried the "alternate" method. By which I mean; when setting a task to the class there was always a heavy suggestion of "how it should be done" or "the tool to use". Often with a "and you also m

Just do it for everything - I have a tiddlywiki [1] full of notes about how to fix/install/setup/tune etc. things on my computers. This started after I spent hours figuring out how to fix a network problem the the Nth time last year :) No

I think the post could swap "developer" for "hacker" - where you seem to be switching "great" for "hacker". I think what you are saying sort of agrees with the post. A bad hacker will make a mess, a great hacker exhibits judgement - and bri

^^ This. Prime initially increased my overall spend because it was so damned easy. Particularly as here in the UK I can order a book up to about 7pm and have it arrive next day. My record, I think, is ordering about 9pm and having it arrive

In the UK prime is bittersweet. Here all we get is free 1 day delivery. That alone is pretty good - and for a "power user" of Amazon like me (who used to spend multiples of the £50 prime membership in delivery a year) it rocks. But we don't

Yes, quite good. It misses a few of the principles of a good resume though... - Switch to a better font - definitely lose the italics - I'd drop the breadcrumb at the top of the resume view page, that could easily confuse someone reading it

The new privacy/group tools are a step towards helping solve that. It's not perfect but with a little bit of organisation you can use the same FB account for random people, casual acquaintances and real friends without causing issues. Hopef

I've been following this for a little while; just of idle interest. Unfortunately everything about the way Rossi acts in relation to the project screams scam. I bet nothing conclusive comes from this test..

I never claimed it was better! Just that I have had a good experience with LoveFilm. The streaming side of things is their biggest downside (although I am on the top package so most of the stuff is free) and from the descriptions Netflix is

Just a theory; but it is possible the isometric connected bricks are depicted that way up so that you can see how it interlocks a little better. (although, that doesn't explain the 2D versions that are "upside down")

Yep; we've just had exactly this problem with a contractor. Some functionality needed tweaking, which was done on one page - but on testing we found the exact same functionality hadn't been tweaked on all the other pages. Huh? Turned out it

What about funding? I know how police forces work because we contract to some of them. The amount of funding required to investigate a crime is huge; where does that come from? With multiple, competing, courts/police this becomes an expensi

OK, so, just got me a shiny new 4S and have been playing with Siri. It quickly became apparent that it is "limited" to this list - but that's OK. It does it very well - it recognised all of my family members and workmates with 95% (or more)

This is the risk in asking for, and taking, the advice of an online forum. Especially a place where the people who hang out tend to be fast moving and with a quick, brutal approach to problems such as that you describe. That's not outright
