I would go with "Proofs and Refutations: The Logic of Mathematical" by Lakatos, its a dialog-form history of defining Euler's formula and it shows the human side of mathematics as a science. I think its great as math has this

How about taking sides instead of acting like a kid believing the existence of gray negates the existence of white and black. Perspectivism is the beginning of inquiry, not the end of it. Stop being a tool of your own social superstitions.

My issue is that I rarely meet people who would answer my questions in a satisfying way. Usually I have to ask question after question for a frustrating amount of time to understand something and not leave the topic with "yea it is cle

I mean philosophy, metaphysics and philosophy of mathematics have over 2k years of history and the only example of the influence that I know it had was that ancient Greeks didn't want to use 0 in accordance with the rule that being is

Could you give me an example of meaningful insight of what math is that relies on such ontological discussions? Since my issue is not with ontological debates as such but rather ontological questions formulated in a manner which is impossib

"One's philosophical / metaphysical worldview determines how one views reality." I fully agree but I fail to see how it is true in the case of ontology of mathematics. All ontological frameworks will have to explain the

I'm getting quite frustrated with this kind of ontological debate. Exist or not exist, why does it matter? On top of that are so many subtle distinctions that the statement "There are mathematical objects." might or might not

I think it makes a big difference if you have a twitter account or not. Without one navigating through the thread is much harder, on the edge of being a dark pattern, and you can't use unrolling bots.

Deleuze's books on history of philosophy are interesting and approachable. Although they are more about his own philosophy over people he write about they're still very valuable. Deleuze gets bad reputation for his other writings
