It's probably out of spite. At an OSS project I worked on previously they'd always hack into competing projects when they trashed the project's security. If you live in a glass house, don't go around throwing stones.

Is the XML expansion issue truly just a DOS issue, or is it possible for attackers to get feedback (either directly or on subsequent requests) on the XML parse result and thus read local files via a SYSTEM entity?

While you certainly can close Metro apps manually, there's no direct need in terms of resources to do so. Metro apps will be suspended when not on the foreground and removed from memory when free memory gets tight. When switching back, the

Try it, as it depends on the applications you use. Some members of the jetbrains family didn't run on OpenJDK for a long time. The ones I use do now. That said, if your platform lacks an installer and -more importantly- an updater, OpenJDK

Yeah, so much for 'power' users and tweakers. Tomshardware is in fact double wrong: Win+Q and charms search lead to the application specific search (eg when in Music, you'll search music, when in Mail, mail). Only when you are on the star

Launching apps by typing their name still works on Windows 8. Just get to the start screen (winkey or bottom left corner, or via charms bar), then start typing.

The inscription in I.7.1 - 8075 translated here as: "The finances officer of the emperor Nero says this food is poison" is in latin "CVCVTA AB RATIONI[B]VS NERONIS AVGVSTI". An alternative, sarcastic, translation has been proposed: Poison i

Also note the qualifier: "in their blood cells". HIV reservoirs are not necessarily restricted to blood or blood cell types. You would expect that these patients need HAART to prevent a reactivating virus from replicating. The Berlin patien

The choppy animations can be due to your GPU (intel?) or driver. FWIW I do not experience choppiness with the Release Preview + Intel HD3000 (MBA 2011). To open an app that is not in the start screen, type its name. This also searches for a
