Did you read the article? It mentions openshot, and compares the two a bit.

I feel like I experience the downside of flat design daily while using the gmail and google calendar interfaces. Finding items and discerning the different areas seems to take longer than it used to. N=1, so your mileage may vary.

Diagree. Unity works like this, and it’s great for attaching multiple behaviours to an object (i.e. a Player can be Hit, but an Enemy as well). It saves you having to make up a inheritence hierarchy that never seems to work out (Player exte

Agreed, I enjoyed reading it because it’s honest and non-dramatic. Seems like the average experience a tech can expect in big corp land.

In software it's supposed to mean: does things one way, which is (hopefully) very good, doesn't include a lot of options to change behavior if you don't like it. It's become popular because people became sick of tools wi

If you’re looking for a self-hosted blog that looks like medium I can also recommend Ghost: https://ghost.org Pretty easy to set up, quite simple and open source.

For everybody who is tired of the 10-step redux program I cannot recommend Mobx enough. With mobx, the 10 steps simply become: 1: update a field in your model. 1b: the views that depend on exactly that data are automatically rerendered.

I don't understand either. If you have to write in C, and you have to compile, what's the advantage?

Typescript has way better editor support, and is faster on large projects. Flow is mostly terminal only, and required a really annoying syntax in it's config file to exclude all node modules. That being said, Flow is better then no typ

They even mention it in the article. This is different as these are compsiting layers, not dom nodes shown in 3d. Compositing layers are an optimization technique.

Pretty cool, but it seems like this is is getting quite far from any standards-based measure. The way another browser such as firefox renders html might be completely different, so optimizing using this tool could possibly do nothing in oth

Just tried it on mobile, and must say it works well. Moving stuff including scrolling feels fluent and natural. Nice work, will consider this if I need dnd in react in the future.

I do not agree. I've been using ubuntu gnome for over a year now, and with a few extensions (dash to dock), which are officially supported, I find it extremely usable and stable.

In my opinion Firebug started a revolution in web development, making JS webapps feasible for regular devs for the first time. Thank you for giving us a lot of the interfaces and tools that live on as "developer tools" in today&#x
