Why, selfselected of course! How surprising that people who still chose to fill out a rust survey in 2021 increasingly use rust! ;-) On topic, i’d like to try out rust, but can’t find good cause in my daily webdev needs.

I don't really get the point of Deno anymore. First they were all about their sandbox/security system, but since you couldn't specify that per module it turned out basically useless. Then they had "url" imports, but

I’d say trust your gut. You actually tried both, wich os more than most would do, and you like svelte better. Why look further?

> Sass outgrew Ruby and needed to be rewritten in C libsass (the c port) has been deprecated for a while because it couldn’t keep up featurewise. The reference compiler is now written in Dart.

It’s interesting to see the mix of local identifiers and public code that copilot is able to generate. In the end I disabled it because I had to keep stopping to check its suggestions, really breaking the programming flow. But I imagine wit

I understand the strong incentives for browser makers to try to monetize, but still it’s annoying. We don’t want pocket, we don’t want flock, we don’t want financing. Just let us use the web.

AWS free tier is horrible. You have to enter a creditcard to sign up, and then there is no way to prevent it being charged when you go over the limit for some reason. If you get on the frontpage of HN for example, you might be majorly screw

Nikita leaving is indeed quite a blow for PHP. I’ve been reading some of the rfcs recently, and a lot of the good ones came from him. Also he seemed to have the clout to get them passed. Nikita, if you’re reading this, thanks for all your w

Also the docs don’t have scroll restoration when you use the browser back button. You’d think a framework that prides itself on using the web platform would have that working automatically.

You think ‘const [count, setCount] = useState()’ is normal javascript? It runs completely counter to the way functions and variables normally work, using some global store behind your back. The idea that react is “just javascript” has gone

I really don’t, webpack config was was a cluster&€@ from day 1. Also, webpacks goal always was to do everything and the kitchen sink, much different from esbuild.

The issue is not where the matching is done with data gathered on facebook, the issue is whether they can track you accross other apps. They can't anymore, and "matching on the phone" won't make a lick of difference.

The thing is that variants of the exact same color can make your design look pretty bland sometimes. In this way I can see where microsoft is coming from with their different hues of blue, even though the naming is obviously terrible.

Notifications can only be sent after you “install” a website as a PWA. Same for background stuff. Don’t want that? Just use it as a regular site.

Not trying to mom you, but have you tried turning down the brightness until it’s the same as a sheet of paper in the same location? It’s made a big difference for me, but takes some getting used to.

I’d say the problem is more in the two party system. If you think about all the opinions one can have about how a country should be run, it’s plain weird to only have two choices.

This is going full inception mode. Nodejs is compiled to wasm (like assembly for your browser), and then loaded inside the browser, which can then run javascript. So a full JS engine is loaded, completely separate from the built-in one.
