ajax.googleapis.com is being referenced on so many sites now that many, if not most, visitors will have the DNS resolution cached.

The problem isn't the logisitics of paying the balance on time. The problem is how easy it is to get into a situation where you get (even slightly) behind the ball. I don't want to argue with you about it here. This isn't the right place a

Services like AirBnB seem interesting, but I'm curious if they pay all the same taxes that hotels do. If hotels are paying to subsidize things like stadiums, but AirBnB can get away with avoiding that, I can see how the hotels would see tha

I think what borisk is pointing out is that LINQ isn't an ORM. It's a language feature. You're thinking of LINQ to SQL, specifically.

Everyone's going to have different favorite editors; nothing wrong with that. However, the free version of Visual Studio 2010 has both the features you cited. (and for what it's worth, I wasn't the one who downvoted your comment)

Debt is a useful tool if you use it to buy something with a positive net present value. Revolving debt is so very rarely used for that though. I can't count the number of smart, successful people I've personally seen hit a minor bump in th

"No real downside" is only true if you have perfect discipline and no bad luck. If that were very common, credit wouldn't be such a phenomenally profitable industry. Betting on credit is like betting against the house in Vegas.

The significant role of luck shouldn't be ignored in a piece like this. Especially in light of our diminishing attention to an expanding volume of voices, getting noticed can be tough even when you're doing all the "right" things.

This. The recent popularity of this topic is a bit FUDish. If it comes to the point that an administration would willingly shut down the Internet, whatever precipitated that scenario would be much worse than the Internet shutting down.

I've still got an Amiga 3000 in a drawer around here somewhere that was working the last time I turned it on. It was the last interesting computer I used as my primary machine, before I starting buying PCs. They were definitely ahead of

Out of curiosity, what makes that look like a .NET app to you? The cross-domain links to ASPX pages or something else? Not disagreeing, just interested.

The "real-world" performance is only better if you don't hold it in your left hand. I can't hear very well out of my right ear, so I've always used my left hand to hold phones to my left ear. I never had any trouble with my 3GS, but my i

I'm surprised that anyone considers this explanation reasonable. The real problem people are seeing with the iPhone 4 is measured in throttled bandwidth and dropped calls, not bars of signal. Using a speed test app, I measure 2-2.3mbs 3G d

The XBox division finally started turning a profit mid-2008 (to the tune of 9 figures). The division may still be in the red overall though, as many years as it was losing money.
