Growing plants/trees and then storing them underground _is_ carbon negative.

If you assume one per ms then timeflake and UUIDv1 both have a 0% chance of collision as they encode the timestamp. You might go above this rate some of the time though and we might as well strive for perfection. One of the nice things abou

I'd worry a bit about the chance of collisions. They correctly state you can generate 50 million of them per millisecond with only a one in a billion chance of a collision (per millisecond). Unfortunately this means the chance of a col

Does anyone have a non-paywall link to the PDF? It's pretty annoying that so many studies are paywalled.

I'm in the UK. 24 years old. Programmer. Did A-levels but not Uni. It's never been very hard to find jobs, and my pay is above average for the UK (it's £60k). Programming is pretty easy to teach yourself and it's a super

Wobbly windows were the main reason I switched to Linux. Been using it for everything ever since... Kind of amazing that could be a "killer app".

I like USB-C and I buy into the dream a lot. Additionally, the fact that I can plug it in either way around to charge my phone is amazing! The USB-C cable is obviously very capable, it's just a bit of a mess with interoperability. Howe

Not sure this is what OP is getting at, but CSS is getting a bit bloated and yet is still unable to fulfill many simple tasks without extra divs and/or JavaScript. With Flexbox we're soon going to have _sort-of_ solved one painful

I still don't really understand why we can't just run any files in cache (from other sites) with the same hash. If I have the sha-256 of an exe file, I'm perfectly happy to run any exe file with the same sha256 simply because

I'm in the same boat as you. I use Firefox purely for a large number of quite complex extensions (which have no Chrome equivalent). If these no longer work or ever extension has a similar version in Chrome I guess I'll switch to C

I found the wording a bit strange too. Perhaps mention why and that you can choose a charity to donate it to even if you were from those countries? Anyway. Hope someone wins. A write-up would make interesting reading.

Almost certainly. It would be tempting just to pre-render this to an HD video otherwise.

You're right. I wasn't sure how necessary that was (and obviously it's extra time). But it is needed. I'll rewrite into two CVs. Thank you.

Thank you. That does help. I didn't really see that before but looking at it now that does all make sense. I'll try to rewrite it with your suggestions in mind and focusing only on C++ or JavaScript (rather than both). Thanks.

Sorry. It's fairly generic. I'm aiming for something backend(ish). Either C(++) or JavaScript/Node.js/PHP on the backend (I feel there's not much more I want to learn with CSS). All I do at the moment is rearrange t

Honestly I'd just plug it in and look through the files. Meh, seems quite unlikely it'll break the computer or infect it (I wouldn't expect Linux to be a big target for something left lying around anyway). Besides, you can pr

This is interesting and I like the display. However, in Firefox (Gentoo 35.0) the buses don't stick to the roads on the turns and seem to go a little slower than intended. This therefore means that the buses don't bunch at all. Th
