Actually, if I understand what Linus says here[1] correctly, porting modules from other OSes to work with linux seems to be ok, writing closed source modules specifically for linux kernel is not ok. But overall still a gray area. Other kern

It is really easy to bypass any kind of adblock filtering by just hosting your ads locally on your own domain, but for some reason all the 'content creators' are to lazy to go back to the old ways. When you buy a newspaper, you ca

If you put a static ad image hosted on your own server on the page, something like http://wired.com/img/jhfkfhfuhi34cn2.jpg , ad blocker will not be able to distinguish it from other images and won't block it. Ther

You have to enable options and test the impact. For example, on my cheap vps, when I enable gzip like google recommends, load time actually increases. Maybe it would be lower for someone using pigeon connection, but not for the average case

They don't really have to force you to install that root cert. Every https connection will be signed with it, so you either trust that cert and can actually view the site (and gov can read it all) or you don't and just get error i

You don't have to. Proxy handles the request and just gives response back to you signed with national cert. If you don't install it, your browser will just start complaining about every site. At least that is how Bluecoat ProxySG[

Let's say we have a service, that needs network to be up and running. network.target won't work on boot, you start googling and find network-online.target that should do the trick, but it doesn't. Then you spend half an hour

Anything made by Blizzard works in Wine just fine. Switched to Linux only years ago. I remember I was already playing WoW WotLK in Ubuntu with Wine.

> What if your company decided that you're not worth paying, but still wanted your work? Perfectly reasonable, then you stop working/creating content and find another job. Capitalism is selfish.

I've disabled adblock on some sites, that are really useful to me, like TV series calendar and donated to some sites that I read often, I bought indie games I liked, but I'm not going to pay to some random blog I accidentally land

It is zero cost for linux kernel to just keep an optional feature and quite a problem for openbsd to accept and maintain another arch after that student is done with his project and moved on.

Someone using OTP like google auth would likely be affected on linux, but it is not default and you can hardly bruteforce it either. On top of that fail2ban should deal with such bruteforce attempts just fine.

Iraq is close to being governed by Islamic State. I'm not sure it is a good definition of "winning" either. Sounds more like US won the match, but lost the game.

Same model and I don't have this issue. This might be a driver or hardware issue. Phone is manufactured by LG, so it is possible that Google can't really fix it. One comment claims same problem happened in 4.2.2, 4.4.4 and 5.0 to
