It would be hard to do aliasing without losing or gaining energy wouldn't it?

What groups (besides the obvious specific tech focused ones) are worth going on? I'm able to get on via sdf.org but I never actually found any engaging discussion.

I'm officially coining Ownership Theatre for Discord, Fandom, and Reddit.

Well yes, but the illusion is enough for enough people.

People like it because people enjoy ownership and power. That and it's way more user friendly for newcomers. Also before Zoom got popular, it was the best voice chat for a while.

Literal survivorship bias?

The title + substack domain are a good indication that this is going to be yet another culture war article.

Being able to flag Fandom, Quora, and Pinterest results would bring me great joy.

The only people with enough power in the system to demand a change are doctors. They could, example, refuse to do procedures until the billing department gets its act together and gives patients a price up front. They could demand to know t

Calling it price discrimination is generous. Usually you'd call such activity a confidence game.

My project was a 3d in-browser escape velocity clone (think Endless Sky.) It ended up with an impressive feature set, mediocre graphics, not nearly enough world, no real game loop, and no players: http://flythrough.space My mist

It's never been a worse time to browse the web.

Because laws match social rules, not the other way around?

by EamonnMR 5y ago
More generally, all predators do. We aren't the relentless killing machines that cats are though.

Agreed, and I find the trend of CGI swarms really boring anyway.

I strongly suspect that video as a medium (especially video social media, but also including TV) has been eating literacy (including text forums) for a while and will continue until we can program our video social media apps by talking and

Class action settlement?

It feels like we're tradespeople being paid like businesspeople because we're in demand right now and it could change at any moment.

by EamonnMR 5y ago
Yeah, that definitely stretched believability. In NGE Nerv has a huge support staff that we see glaring at Shinji in ep1.

The whole villiage sequence was character development? I agree that the CGI scenes where kind of weaker than the old animated fights.

Especially Asuka going John Wick on the military hardware and MP Evas... one of the best pieces of animation in the series. My one qualm with the rebuilds is that none of the fights are that good.

I've recently been way into this show. I highly recommend it as well as the "rebuild" movie series. You may have to grit your teeth and bear some scenes, but I recommend it without reservations.

I wonder if minecraft's sticking to private servers as the first class multiplayer helped keep it relevant.

Yeah "increased error rates" is an understated way to describe a massive outage that took several services offline for a full business day.

Original vendor in name only. The quake team has been scattered to the winds and Id Software has been acquired.

Also consider the track record of CryEngine: Star Citizen which will never ship and MechWarrior Online, and PGI switched to Unreal after that for MW5.

I did a project where I scanned a bunch of old media. The scans where so high quality that it was impractical to make a PDF for people to use. The Imagemagick community helped out with the right incantation to make everything just kinda wor
