At least there isn't the limit of 50KB for SAM templates anymore [1]. That was a ridiculous limit, especially as nested templates aren't possible with SAM yet [2]. [1]: https://github.com/awslabs/serverless-ap

What I don't like about Terraform is that the state of your resources is stored locally, which might lead to consistency problems depending on your setup. With CloudFormation state is handled by CloudFormation itself, so you can be con

From what I heard, AWS rents a racks in commerical datacenters for its Route53 endpoints. So while that's also a datacenter of course, it's not an "Amazon datacenter".

The solution I prefer is to run all hooks as part of CI as well. So whenever somebody doesn't have them installed locally his builds will just fail if he did something the hooks would've caught. The next he time he'll think t

What people critizing this seem to miss is that it's exactly the same situation as for SSDs which include hardware full disk encryption (FDE): If the processor inside the SSD responsible for encryption/decryption breaks, you can&#

I also have the feeling that the amount of links to Bloomberg articles on HN significantly increased in the past months. I'm not a fan of that though, because Bloomberg articles seldomly cover really new topics or add in-depth informat

I think you underestimate how far Tesla already is: - Northvolt doesn't have a factory for production yet. When they plan to open in 2020, Tesla is probably already constructing its second or third battery factory. Also mind the amount

Or you simply buy two USB-A-to-USB-C-Adapters for a few cents and put them permanently onto the ends of the cables. Makes the plugs a bit longer, but just works.

Well, it's a limitation of Intel's processors. Either you use LPDDR3 which maxes out at 16GB or you go with DDR4, which is more power hungry, but allows more than 16GB.

Maybe the Touchbar was just a "clever" way to prepare all of us for sole touch-based input, which is going to be included in the MBP in 2020. ;-) P.S.: I don't even think touch-only input is neccessarily a bad idea. All Apple

Even without the Touchbar, using the T1 for securing the TouchID sensor (amongst the other duties it fulfills) would've been justification enough. So no, that's no excuse for the Touchbar.

Yes, Lambda functions use a second core above 1536MB of memory. Back in the past they had it in their documentation, but removed it at a certain point. Also see: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/34135359/whats-t

The main problem with multiplayer is that 0ad is still just using a single thread for everything, so all the path finding, rendering etc. competes with network related requests. One effect of that is that the player with the slowest hardwar

Runescape will always have a special place in my heart. Aside from its community it was the first browser-based game with really good 3D graphics, at a time where table-based browser games were the norm. And it was even free! For a non-nati

As others already mentioned the biggest pain point with the Touch Bar is, that you can't use it without looking at it. That's a major annoyance, especially if you use the function keys in your daily work. Yet there is still a solu
