AWS is a shared service, so as they add more customers, the overhead costs of administering the service continue to drop. Their priority is to keep growth going at a steady clip. AWS is also a very granular service, so Amazon gets near real

IMO, the unmade decision is a symptom. In my personal experience, I start deferring things when there's something else going on that I don't want to deal with. Usually the something else is that I haven't accepted that I "don't know" someth

Singapore is a city-state, so administering that sort of program is feasible. The US is so much larger in terms of both size & scope that any program would be overrun with fraud, or overrun with bureaucracy to prevent fraud immediately.

The way the SO content is licensed and the API creates a powerful disincentive for a malevolent corporate overlord from putting a paywall up. A paywall would dramatically reduce the amount of new content being generated, and the open licens

True. The problem with that approach in the US is that our laws demand an "objective" approach to dealing with this stuff. We don't trust police to make subjective decisions.

The problem is that not everyone works at a startup, armed with a credit card. If you sell to the Fortune 500 or government, a procurement officer does the purchase. The procurement guy's purpose in life is to extract discounts. With govern

You need to consider what threat you are defending against. Before credit cards were popular, it was common for aircraft passengers to be armed with handguns and carrying a lot of cash -- yet there were few incidents. Think about that. An o
