Actually, I am an engineer, and I myself try to keep up with new technologies. But that doesn't mean I will use them just because they are new - in my mind that is additional risk. I have used my share of technologies which were made

Sure, this happens occasionally, but more often you get an engineer who would like to upgrade just because there is some new version available. Who cares about stability, at least the bugs are new... :( At least that's my experience.

Thanks, this video really made my day! :) I guess I won't be buying certificates from Comodo anytime soon.

Not sure why you are being downvoted. My sentiment is similar... Docker's historical advantage over other solutions is easy-to-use interface ( including Dockerfile). Can't wait to try swarm out.

Assuming you know what you want of course. But the recommender system could have a mode where it learns which taste you like based on time, number of unread mails in your inbox, skipped songs and moon cycle. :)

Sure, but at least I would prefer 25 lines of decent Python over 125 lines of overly verbose Java. Nothing is black and white, it is easy to make code too verbose and thus very taxing for the reader.

Well, I can't do that (haven't used any of them enough for that) but I find it telling that Rust is missing from the slide where they compare the languages... :)

Order of magnitude faster? I doubt that. Unless the old ones were really old / slow to begin with. But really, we are both speculating without knowing the facts.

I didn't know about nativescript before, thanks for bringing it to my attention! That said, it looks like nativescript promotes single code for multiple platform, which means the app won't look awesome in any of them (examples fro

Horrible. One aspect of this story is that these men are still slaves, though their masters are now moneylenders and the whole thing seems kind of legal... Modern day slavery.

Speaking for myself, I have used many platforms ranging from embedded to desktop and I also proud myself to be a competent old skool web developer - one who has avoided node.js, angular, amber and similar. React caught my attention and I tr

Sticker over camera lens takes care of that - in this age of malware it is good to use it anyhow. Good luck tracking my eyes then! Other than thwt, I see huge potential for this in UX studies.

Something being fun (or just being really tedious work) depends on context - especially on motivation for doing it. So yes, flipping bits manually can be fun.

This. I love FF and use it wherever I can, but there are small tricks in Chrome that make it seem much faster in normal use. No matter what you do, action feedback is instant. Firefox should really imitate this.

Why do you think you would notice it? I imagine the only giveaway would be the url in status bar when you hover mouse over the link. If you are a programmer (or very pedant person) you might notice it, otherwise probably not. Also, I hope t
