One could argue that web GUIs are the best of both worlds. If done right, user can easily discover new functions and how they are used, while they still allow interaction with other apps through REST API. They can also be used remotely, the

I haven't, but I have another bone to pick with its authors. They lost credibility in my eyes with the whole Save/Export debacle. Sure, I use a plugin now that changes behaviour so I can save to PNG (who in the world uses xcf dire

I would expect that the reviews which are a result of purchase would be treated differently? Especially if not returned, or if the customer is returning less than X/Y products? Amazon has the advantage that their users are known (to th

Easiest way? Complain, look for another job, quit. There is no way you can change the culture from bottom up. Best you can achieve is make a bubble with your close coworkers where you cover each other - but even that is temporary and can be

Interesting - I thought you would end the argument differently. In my experience additional visibility helps curb the unwanted behaviour because other senior devs step in and help fight it - but I guess that depends on the general culture i

This! What have you got to lose? Worst case, you close down and get an engineering job, which is the same as if you went for aqui-hire - except that you miss the chance to build something great. Don't worry about the big guys, there is

Thanks, it's not quite the same though. Pause key was much more convenient, and worked on every system. Thanks nevertheless!

From time to time I still miss turbo button and a (functioning) pause key. On DOS you could pause execution to inspect output... I guess with multiprocessing it became more difficult to implement this...

On a sidenote, swf specification was simply great. It was only after I read it that I fully grokked the Flash development (not that I did much of it, because I wasn't a fan of Flash webpages, and couldn't find a way to make money

Not really. I understand why website owners would like that, but it's simply not possible. In the worst case user will use mailcatch.com, aliases or one-time email accounts. No way you can check if the e-mail address is a "real&qu

Probably a different issue, but one of my greatest gripes with CI is that I can't limit steps to (for example) master branch AND having a tag. It seems such a basic requirement, but is unfortunately not possible via .gitlab-ci.yml.

Meh. What do you do with the dynamically allocated arrays then? Do you pass their dimensions alongside pointer? If that bothers you so much, you can create a struct that holds the pointer and metadata, and do the checks yourself. Calling th
