Sure, just wanted to make it clear, since download of that 1TB (?) could be much faster.

It's not trivial, that's for sure. And it is not download times that kill you, it is recomputing that is really slow, and you need it if you want full history. You really want to have SSDs. The export itself is quite fast though.

I guess you could use GreaseMonkey for that, though I can't imagine how you could keep track of everything. Might be useful for smallish modifications though.

It's a good enough reason to switch to DuckDuckGo or StartPage (if you don't mind that they still use Google in background, though in anonymous way).

This, and very well written! A lot of the complaints from the article are really all easily solvable issues. I mean, really? I need to click an app for an hour to get the block? Just run a lottery. And what do you mean I have to catch peopl

And even then it's better to use a standard solution that other people will know too, if nothing else, to make maintenance easier.

And you know better because...? The main point of the article is that the issue is far from settled, and that evidence for both sides is lacking. Until the consensus is reached through scientific means (instead of bullying) the matter is no

You can rephrase that to "hey, I just spent my 20s learning". It might sound cynical, but it's really not - each failure is a lesson.

What is the effect of this? Apart from some security through obscurity measures that might now be useless, what could the worst negative effect of this be? I can't imagine it could hurt Snapchat.

True, the idea would need to be developed further. That said, I think periodic retreival of data (and thus periodic payment to storage providers) would solve most of these issues.

Incentives are not aligned here. As a user, I'm not paying for file to be stored - I'm paying so it can be retrieved anytime. As a space owner, I want to maximize profits per space, with cheapest ( not reliable) disks possible.

I think the problem is that me-cleaner is a 3rd party solution, I'm not sure I would trust it not to brick my CPU. If AMD solved this, it would be a huge differentiator in my eyes, and I think it would further boost their sales. That s
