Yes, libraries should specify exact versions as well, it's insane that they don't.

I mean, don't use `npm install --save` then. I'm not really sure why people started using it in the first place, it's such a lazy thing to do. Instead, add it to your package.json yourself with the exact specific version you

Also, a lot of websites have this thing where you have to enter your postal code and then you can pick your address from a list of addresses associated with the postal code. I used to live in a development for a while that was so new that i

WRONG. Typical junior developer mistake. Even if we disregard trivial problems such as non-letter input or empty input, this will only work with English and a few other languages. This will TOTALLY fail with e.g. Turkish input (I ı vs İ i).

Writing Rust code interfacing libc is a rather frustrating experience though. Many libc interfaces use constructs that Rust really wants you to avoid (for very good reasons), things such as global mutable variables (errno and for callback f

I get the compliance thing but surely in cases where they can see that a request is very likely to be wrong I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect them to send off an email or give you a call to double check if it is really w

Nothing is going to force you to write new code better or refactor old code if you don't have the motivation yourself. I can guarantee you that I could write horrible spaghetti code in any functional programming language.

Oh man, it's absolutely true for FOSS, unless you develop FOSS purely because of idealogical reasons, Richard Stallman-style. FOSS development can be turned into reputation and popularity, which can be turned into cash. It's much
