I once went to a workshop on a Sunday morning at the local makerspace to listen to someone talk about some kind of distributed search engine or something like that. One of the developers came from (I think) Germany to explain this to us the

Interesting, never heart about dismal arithmetic before. Squint hard enough and it starts to look like tropical geometry. This is a different construction where you give the addition and multiplication operators in a polynomial a different

I've been trying to learn more about algebraic effects and I want to use them for practical things. However it has been hard because although I understand at some level the theoretic reasons for using them, the actual day-to-day experi

I also use postgres.js a lot, but most of the time I don't even bother with the typescript. If you develop using the JetBrain suite then you can have really good support for sql embedded in strings, it is aware of your schema and does

thx for your reply, so postgres is taking care of the parquet files in the background in some way i guess, would it be possible to combine this with something like neon?

Interesting stuff keeps happening in PostgresLand. This uses Apache DataFusion, first think i hear about it, but from reading the docs it seems like it already offers build in SQL interface atop of Apache parquet and Apache Arrow. What is t

Just think at how backwards your comment is, basically you are telling me to shut up because you are a good boy who listens to his operations research professor in school who thinks that the only thing that matters for being validated as a

This is the reason I prefer the intuitionist view of mathematics vs the more common platonic view. Something as simple as the Pythagorean theorem is true because it has found so many ways to solve practical problems, the Sumerians and Egypt

Your intuition is largely correct, but it is rarely a practical problem. The k language, including the ngn/k dialect has some lazy constructions for example !10000000 (iota of 10 million), will not create an array of with 10 million in

I think that the url search parameter convention as is used by PostgREST is a better alternative then using SQL for this. It is more ergonomic, easier to parse and allows for some additional functionality you would usually need GraphQL for.

What about TypedArrays though, they could be useful to implement a ECS in JS. I do agree with your point, but ECS could be a useful pattern in JS not just for graphics or games but also OLAP workloads.
