To paraphrase Pratchett: million to one chances happen nine times out of ten. Space is big, really big, etc. so it's no surprise we've found something like this just through chance alone. One of the planets is probably Bethselam

Statistically Cascadia is long overdue a 9 on the Richter scale. Seeing what Microsoft's business back up plan for that is, would be interesting, especially since Seattle would be the largest affected city.

It feels very much 'Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should', but these kind of things often have practical uses that end up being completely novel.

Designed in 1905, but very much reminds me of the 'Bellbottom' font that was popular in the 70s - for my generation, most familiar in The Goodies tv series - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goodies_(TV_serie

Someone has watched too much sci-fi. Next we'll have those haptic gloves and holo-displays just like Minority Report. And of course, the average human is known to absolutely not get tired or fatigued holding their arms up in the air

I’m Satoshi and so is my wife. I didn’t think double spaces after a full stop is an American thing. We were taught that in the 70s back when typewriters were still a thing. And I can’t break the habit today.

I typically watch YouTube content once, but I'll likely revisit a webpage many times. But I suppose YouTube returns more potential ad revenue despite lower visits.

There's more about the City + South London tunnels, but the best I can find at the moment is this: > The original running tunnels north of Borough station remain, although when the Jubilee line extension was built in the late 1990s,

My father had Parkinsons. And was an engineer that used degreaser, i.e. trichloroethylene. And had 'the smell'. I think it's actually more common for people to detect this smell than perhaps is implied by these articles.

Don't repeat yourself / single-point-of-truth. Config files can be full of repetition, from values, to sections/objects. Defining a value or object once, dramatically reduces search+replace errors for example.

Anecdote - I remember as child in the UK, in the 1980s, there was a full sized lorry that toured, carrying a Harrier jump-jet VR set up. The graphics were wireframe, possibly 8 colour, I'm not sure, but I do remember the VR helmet. I
