Keep in mind that LIDAR is moving lasers too, which are allowed to be higher power but should have an interlock that turns the laser off when it stops moving. I'll leave the extrapolation on how that could go wrong to you.

You'd be surprised how many people will contact tech support mainly to complain and view getting their problem fixed as secondary. Back when I did tech support I spent a lot of time commiserating with people while fixing their proble

A bot that ignores error codes isn't going to suddenly start behaving itself if your site has a rate limit. It'll simply ignore the rate limiting errors and move on to the next page the second the site does return a non-error resp

There's a LOT of misbehaving bots out there that will just relentlessly keep hammering an endpoint that returns error codes.

"The social contract" is a very well defined and explored concept[0]. It's not a literal contract. Being intentionally obtuse about word definitions isn't going to convince anyone of anything. [0] https://en.w

Sure it's perhaps not companies having special privilege, but I think it's equally awful to give "entities with lots of money" special privileges in the public space. Entities with lots of money are the minority, why sho

It's one of those things where if you've done it once you can repeat from memory for the most part. Personally I've never quite managed to get a ray tracer working properly. The math is too dense for me when bugs happen. I ca

For some wild reason it's basically only permitted for large companies to deface the public space like this. You go try putting some street art out there while the cops are watching, see what happens. In addition to that by far most th

Note that it does require the design of the roundabout to be made with this in mind. Leaving any dutch roundabout involves a fairly tight 90 degree curve, forcing cars to slow down before encountering cyclists or pedestrians.
