CICO is true, and it’s the same as saying being an excellent driver is merely controlling friction and inertia. Factually true, but almost meaningless in and of itself.

Realistically, what would need to happen for it to not be the case? How many millions or billions of people would have to use it before the government would give up and stop looking at you if you use it?

I’m sorry that happened - that was hard to read :( In my opinion, in ANY relationship if someone demands full control of all communication, then they are trying to hide something.

That’s an interesting question. If you didn’t have parents, spouses, children, etc who would be crushed by your own destruction I’d agree. But being part of a family, and even part of a friend structure, neighborhood, society necessitates

I wonder. Everyone has heard of the Apache. Does removing the name cause the name to be used less? How many tribes are there, for whom there are living members, but for which most of us have never heard of? Is obscurity better than havi

I don’t know if it applies to you, but this post from a couple of days ago on HN might apply. People pretty much said to stay away from weed, and I’d alcohol: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34279527

Did anyone wonder if this was written by an AI? 3 of the steps boil down to figuring out what your crows like to eat.

I have also never heard if brownshirt gangs, and I feel like I’m fairly in top of the news. Is this some sort of name connected with Nazis?

I suspect this refers to small mom-and-pop shops and restaurants that couldn’t survive the lock downs. Much bigger chains seem to have survived better.

I’ve been pondering a bit in this area, especially around things that are addictive harmful. It seems like things that give a pleasure reward for little or no work, and aren’t furthering relationships, are dangerous. They sap motivations

I don’t understand where this sentiment comes from. Don’t vote?? It’s not like being tired is being dead. The status of the world/country/society still impacts older people too.

I see the exact same thing. It’s frustrating because CPU, disk, memory usage, etc are all super low. The machine is idle and there I sit waiting for the first web page to load.

I did exactly this. I worked 2 hours per night after the kids went to bed on week nights, and for about 3 hours early on Saturday morning. It took about 10 years until I went full time, and I now been doing it full time for 10ish years.

Education is obviously important. Making school less expensive for everyone would be great. I just don’t understand why of all those that have ever or will ever borrow, current borrowers get this pay off. Why are they special?

I still don’t understand why _student_ loans in particular are being forgiven (paid of by the government). What about home loans? Car loans? Credit card debt? What makes student loans worthy of forgiveness that others aren’t?
