FWIW you can easily open up the text files in VS Code. Last time I was messing with it, I tried to find a way to integrate it more, and I think you can set it as the editor's default text editor.

The article title is obviously click-bait-y. I don't disagree with any of the technological solutions discussed: I think vertical farming seems neat, and hopefully promising, and I believe local farming with special care given to rotat

Counter-anecdote: I have a couple of vegan restaurants near me which make dishes that are definitely imitative of meat-based dishes, but are amazing and I would rate as one of the top restaurants including all vegan or non-vegan restaurants

It wasn't captured very well in my original comment, but I was just talking about a subset of our cooking, and I was more comparing like-to-like as far as imitating a dish, chicken vs seitan, and less so all vegan cooking. It was meant

I don't just eat seitan at all, in fact we have it maybe 2 weeks out of every 4, tops, partially because of the effort to prep it. I also didn't really specify, but there's times we cook with nutrition and health as the main

All too true. I'd guess that short of relying on protein shakes, 70% of my meals are based around legumes, it should definitely be a go to for more people, regardless of whether they keep a vegan diet or not.

I agree with you on beans and legumes! I'm currently trying to maintain a calorie deficit while hitting a protein target that seitan makes very convenient (though I also have been using some protein powders that help recently, and gave

I think they were saying that, despite being vegan, they took a bit to cut them out after realizing they wouldn't help with weight loss, since they are still junk food.

Anecdotal: The difference between being able to buy a pack of chicken breasts at Costco vs having to make my own seitan is definitely a huge difference in time. My wife and I tag-team the parts we hate most (I don't like working with d

Raw, uncooked tofu may be tasteless, but I'm not really one for grabbing a raw chicken breast either. Marinades go a long way with tofu, as does which method you cook it.

I can't wait for more Carolina BBQ vegan options. Fiction Kitchen's is good, though more chopped than pulled, while my preference is the latter. Still amazing though!

Have you considered making some basic meat substitutes at home? We make Seitan a lot, and you can do a lot of cool stuff with Tofu. You can also make stuff like falafel or bean patties/meatballs. I'd recommend checking out Miyoko&

I think it's a little less direct than that, in this case. The Amazon Rainforest is a big source of cleaning CO2 out of the air (lots of trees). It's burning, which means our CO2 footprint matters even more than before. So, anythi

Not too far of a leap from there to "Impossible chicken". The real crime is that we are gonna have to think of a different name for non-euclidean chicken products.

Well, no one wins since they no longer use beef tallow, but do add beef flavoring to the spuds. So we can't eat them and people who liked the tallow-fried ones don't enjoy them as much (?)

I agree with some of the sentiment, but I do disagree on a couple of notes: 1. I don't think white rice needs a tax, nor would I consider it a "fatty product". I end up eating white rice probably 4/7 days of the week, pa
