Shelly devices can easily be set up to not use the manufacturer’s cloud, which the author of the article apparently didn’t disable, since he uses their mobile app. When that cloud service is disabled, some more developer-friendly protocols

I think you might be interested in the Iiyama G-Master GB3467WQSU-B1. It is a 3440×1440 px, 34-inch monitor which works at 165 Hz with 0.4 ms response rate. It is a Vertical Alignment monitor, so its viewing angles and colors are less aweso

OP mentioned owning a MacBook Pro M1 Max, so I would say the wanted refresh rate would be 120 Hz.

Did I dream things up, or has the project never been clear about the fact it is macOS only when it was in closed beta? I have received countless e-mails from them (because signing up to the newsletter was required to be registered to the wa

Have you ever played FPS games? Caps lock is usually used as a switch for silent/stealth movement, probably because it is one of the only buttons on Windows which keep state.

How would you implement caching, or looking up for the decryption key for some directory in a lookup table, if `Documents` and `documents` must both resolve to the same entry? Some kind of normalization would be needed, right? Then you need

I have the same question as you. I will add that it is possible Chrome’s market share might be partly artificial since Firefox might be using Chrome’s User Agent string so that websites “compatible with Chrome only” remain usable.

Installing every single Nix package is a piece of cake. Just run nix-env -i without argument. Nix has been behaving that way for at least 8 years: https://github.com/NixOS/nix/issues/308

OpenDyslexic is a TERRIBLE font for helping dyslexia, for how unconventional and distracting it is. I personally use Heinemann Special (but it’s not free), and sometimes Atkinson Hyperlegible.

HTTPie does not support multi-valued keys in query strings (sending several field[]= for example). It is very annoying and, for consistency, I would rather use cURL (instead of mixing syntax with HTTPie).

Perfectionism and pedantism are good qualities some teams are after, it is unsurprising that some people would reject a candidate who did not bother “properly” writing the name of the technology they use.

The French on that website is so broken it’s impossible to understand. Do you have a link to force the website to display in English? Visiting /en redirects to /fr.

I personally find this font to be terrible because of how distracting it is (maybe that’s my ADHD talking). My favorite font is Heinemann Special [1] because it makes every letter unique; but it is expensive, and my favorite free alternat

There are a whopping 4 different AFNOR AZERTY keyboards available in the world. A shame it is not more developed.

It is impossible to get the same palm print every time, so what they are storing are probably a fingerprint (ahah) of specific points of interest in a palm print. Still scary, though.

I disagree with lazy-loading being a good practice. As a frequent commuter using underground transportation (sigh), I strongly dislike when websites do not have the expected behavior of having the whole page loaded. Also, I wish there was a
