Not Airbnb's fault, this is a failure of government and of the people for continuously voting in inept representatives.

Governments exist as a collective to the public to do what one individual cannot do on their own. Corporations exist to enrich shareholders and nothing more.

They now have to contend with a lot of lawsuits though. I wouldn't be surprised that this spells their demise.

Yeah it's the same with the erroneous substitution of the scientific definition of a "theory" with its dictionary definition. Really sloppy and lazy.

This reads like a technocrat's hopeful vision of the Internet in the early 1990s. Sure, in theory it's true, but we all know in reality that that's not how the majority of humanity is using the Internet.

Arguing in bad faith for retail investors isn't going to help. And if the latter is indeed true, it's textbook market manipulation by RH to save their own ass, and I hope RH is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I get FB's argument, but I have little sympathy. Apple doesn't sell user data unlike FB.

What's more likely: multiple Robinhood customers all colluded in a very short time to make it look like RH sold their shares without their consent, or RH actually did this? Occam's razor...

Yup. Your average PCP/internist is good at one thing: analyzing your symptoms and directing you toward someone who actually can help you. Not saying that a yearly check-up isn't beneficial (it is), just that they shouldn't

And you just described a form of market manipulation. Except that we can't know Melvin's true motives because for some weird reason, hedge funds don't have to make their methodologies public. So why are you getting mad that r

May be for some of them. People invest for all sorts of reasons besides the "fundamentals", you know. Tell me: what do you think Melvin's intentions were for shorting a dying company's stock for several billion?

>nobody blames the speculators The hedge funds are the speculators in this case. They're playing a dangerous game where you can short more stock than what actually exists. Why this is allowed? Who the fuck knows.

I don't understand why they couldn't just disable margin trading instead of buying the individual stocks. Margin trading was the real problem for them.

Government tells Coinbase to freeze all assets and activity. Welp, there goes crypto being the savior. Yes, I know there's offshore trading platforms, but some like Binance ban US customers for this very reason: government interference

I mean, nothing material happened because of it. People got angry at the shadowy nebulous "Wall Street" instead of Obama who actually gave the bailouts.

Because people don't only invest in stocks because of the "fundamentals", they invest in people and hype and all sorts of other reasons.
