As mentioned there's an inverse trade-off between life and brightness, so if you found a way to make an 1100 hours lightbulb, you could equally make a brighter lightbulb than the competition.

If you break videos up into short chunks, then you could simply encode those chunks on-demand into the perfect encoding for the requester. The advantages are: - You don't waste CPU encoding video into formats that won't be used. -

IMO it wouldn't matter if they'd used the word "Rent" or "Licence" instead: it would still be unreasonable. Account termination is entirely at Apple's discretion, meaning the term of your "rental"

I don't think that's correct - this would only happen if the notification queue was already full. Assuming the notification queue is not full then the original transaction does not wait for the notification to be ACKed. You can av

Most C++ compilers support precompiled headers, which would be the closest equivalent to incremental compilation within a single compilation unit.

The "used from a single thread" aspect is a red herring: RefCell can only be used from a single thread anyway, and the compiler enforces this statically. The "state" value in a RefCell is overhead, although it's f

I don't think you'd need to further complicate DNS, just have a service running that checks a calendar and syncs your DNS TTLs appropriately. eg. - Check if there's a maintenance window in the next [max TTL] - If not, set TTL

I believe they mean that when you poll a future, you pass in a context. The future derives a "waker" object from this context which it can store, and use to later trigger itself to be re-polled. By using a context with a custom &q

How is that proof? You're again pointing to a design flaw in NPM: that authors can easily delete packages without warning. If you yank a package with cargo, it doesn't break people's builds who already depend on that package,

I disagree: the problem is not that package managers make things easy, it's just that several of them are poorly designed. The fact that pip/npm/gem etc. look for packages in a fallback location if not found in the private re
