You can faintly hear the accordion near the end of the recording. I don't like that it shares the recordings though. It doesn't add much value and it's a privacy violation, even if it's legal.

23andMe being a Google spin-off I wouldn't be surprised if they do a full sequencing regardless of whether you pay for it or not. At the very least I would expect them to store the samples indefinitely so they can do it once it's

I love how easy it is to integrate the tiny, standalone tools that make up s6 without having to commit to an entire init system. It's a great example of the benefits of the UNIX philosophy.

I didn't know there was a formal service for it, that's very cool. Still, it relies on the miner keeping its word instead of cracking the private key. In practice it would definitely not bother risking its reputation like that, bu

That must hurt. In case I crack the next puzzle... how should I go about collecting the prize without having to mine a block myself or trust a miner not to screw me over?

Huh, it seems it's just my browser that resets the noise every run. I opened the page in Firefox like the article suggests and I get a different pattern per site and session. That prevents using the noise as a supercookie, I think, if

I didn't know canvas anti-fingerprinting was so rudimentary. I don't think it increases uniqueness (the noise is different every run) but bypassing it seems trivial: run the thing n times and take the mode. With so little noise, 4

Fine, in that case companies that take security seriously and/or have frugal data collection and retention policies will be more affordable than their competitors, since their premiums will be cheaper.

My new ISP took this to another level: if you transfer your landline phone number they send you a voice-only SIM card and a 4G router into which you're supposed to plug your landline. Calls to the landline number are redirected to the

I don't want to frighten your family more, but shower NEVER is safe. Unlike lightning, slips and falls in the bathroom are quite common and sometimes result in death or lifelong injury.
