I highly recommend the new PowerToys. It's like the old one you remember from the 2000/XP days. This article covers my thoughts pretty well; always weird to see your own thoughts echoed back to you.

No, most software engineers think salespeople are idiots because they have a bad habit of selling things to customers that don't exist yet, and in many cases cannot exist, and then you have to tell them, point blank, that they just lie

Please stop repeating the falsehood that animal pastures can somehow be transmuted into high yield crops for the human food supply: about 1/3rd of farmland in the US can never be transformed into suitable farmland for that task, and th

The unfortunate truth of all such projects: if it isn't pre-installed on all reasonably complete Linux distos, it can truly succeed, no matter how awesome and cool it is... ... which is why I try to write as much stuff as POSIX sh as p

Man, the dead comments here are wild. Are there people who believe Disney is somehow pro-LGBT? They're a corporation: they're anti-LGBT and pro-money; the only time they seem to be pro-LGBT is when they think there is a monetary a

I don't understand what Fig is actually for. Why would I want a "visual autocomplete" when I already get what I want out of bash-complete + fzf, a more technically complete and understood solution?

I'd hazard a guess that the 20 to 50 year old tech described in that book hasn't changed much; anything that is novel is probably still under patent and will someday make it into a newer edition.

Thats not how these CPUs work. The CPUID instruction allows software to query the CPU on if an instruction set is supported. Code emitted by Intel's compiler would only query if the instruction set exists if the CPU is from Intel, inst

I used Base16, and even added a colorscheme generator to the near infinite collection of them that Base16 has. In the end, rewriting the upper 8 colors to not match the established ANSI color scheme is what broke it for me.
