I got comfy with standing at 5'9" 160 pounds. My squat was 150 x 12 reps, deadlift around the same. I use only the coffee table, no DIY keyboard add on. I have a laptop at the far end of the table from me, hands stretched out, leaning on de

OP: how tall are you, how much do you weight, you much do you squat? There must be some common stats that will predict wether you're ready for a standing desk. The weekend trips sounds like serious exercise. Maybe you don't eat enough after

But it also costs programmer time to tweak software for weak hardware. Sometimes it makes sense to spend that time on setting up a few big iron servers yourself.

I never drink any sugary juices or candy. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, also bread, milk and nuts. And I have terrible tooth decay. Seems a bit silly to compare pHs of various junk foods. Drinking a better pH won't make much difference. T

If we assume the grad students are in on it, it's because they'd want to move their careers forward. They're probably working in well established fields where returns for effort spent are diminishing. See the chart at http://cognitivesocia

Widespread cheating reveals a bigger problem. These sites are commonly used for self promotion but they lack a mechanism to give everyone a minimum amount of attention so they can see if there is any interest in their product/content. I wou

The current Go homepage is surprisingly good functionally and aesthetically. PHP, Clojure, Haskell sites look like monolithic corporate website templates aesthetically. The main problem is with the author who can't appreciate good design wh

Their blog ID system doesn't compensate for it. The single color icons with generic shapes don't register. They need a face or some fancy complex visual. And it needs to be large. Obviously you don't have this problem on Google+ and Faceboo

Dieter Rams as any other designer would do lots of iteration before coming up with a design to meet the 10 principles. At some point with hardware you have to settle on something for the long haul. Somehow people managed in that A/B testing

Go is advertised as feeling scripty and light but I don't think it really shakes the systems programming feel. Idiomatic Go has a lot of error checking which adds verbosity. It would be nice to have a language you can do scripty stuff with
