Would be cool to build one into a baseball hat. Or even put an array of car parking proximity sensors into that hat. https://www.kit.edu/kit/english/pi_2016_003_feeling-spaces-w...

The empty cities are interesting. People don’t want to live there because there are no jobs and no services. There are no jobs or services because there are no people. Sounds like an opportunity for the government to step in and create empl

Stability will beget over-confidence which will bring exuberance. If the system feeds on its own information it might be impossible to stabilize. And do you even want stability? The boom cycle produces exuberance that allows funding risky p

FWIW I browse with show dead and most shadow banned accounts deserve it for their abrasive style and lack of substance. It sucks to be collateral damage though, I sympathize.

Well, you jest, but what if we could create an LLM that follows dang behavior? He’s pretty low-touch on substance and mostly moderates style. An LLM should be able to copy that. If I didn’t have to work for a living I might pursue that, tha

Yes, but… there were a half-dozen people here whose comments I alway enjoyed for the deep and nuanced perspective. I haven’t seen them in a few years now, sadly. Maybe some light-touch people focus would be a nice compromise. Like, highligh

I believe you might be looking for the term “toxic positivity”? I don’t necessarily subscribe to that description, but I see where you’re coming from. It’s an interesting choice on their part. Probably targeted at a certain audience who are

Low-hanging fruit depletion is a problem, but there are ways of dealing with it: - A larger number of people searching for the next Newtonian apple all over the place. - A smaller number of larger groups that pursue a narrow area with inten

You will quite likely end up with a non-scalable “services” business instead of a scalable “product” business. I did.

If IT investment brings low to no returns, what are we to make of the universal embrace of IT by the markets and absolutely humongous valuations and profits of the big tech? Are the markets being irrational for the last 50 years?

I wonder what is the significance of it being a salt rather than a pure lsd? For d-amphetamine making it a salt produces an effect similar to delayed release. The result is sold as a “more modern” ADHD treatment Vyvanse. So is this achievin

Well, things have changed since I looked last. Thanks for explaining. FWIW, back in the nineties we just wrote our own setjmp/longjmp for VMS to avoid stack unwind - save registers / restore registers. We used it to implement coro

The only platform I’ve seen stack unwind was VAX/VMS :) But yes, you do need to allocate the stack which could take up a lot of ram. It’s odd not to mention it in the article though.

Still rather odd not to have a video on the page of a product where animation is the key selling point. Maybe a video wouldn’t convey all the benefits of the design, but lack of video does not inspire confidence either.
