Do you really consider SC2 a screwup? Remember, SC1 was far from perfect as well when it came out. The only blizzard game that was perfect right from release IMO was warcraft 3. SC2 might not be their best, but it is still a really great ga

Color accuracy is certainly not the defining aspect for the usability of a product, but it is a way better aspect than something like clock speed - which is something almost every manufacturer feels required to mention when they compare

What I'd like to see is this exact analysis done to the S III, even just to have some no bullshit data when the 'my phone is better than your phone' comes up again.

Now look, I don't want to defend Apple for everything they do, but now it's getting ridiculous. If the author would calm down first and think for a bit (and / or not being click bait addicted), he could easily find out that Apple does this

I've worked as a Software consultant for a small company known for quality work and I can confirm your numbers. I've been billed for up to 230$/h, however this is Switzerland - on US price levels it should add up with your calculation prett

I see an opportunity here. Is there already a recommendation service around that takes your rating profile into account? Apple has their 'Genius' system, however with respect to movies rentals I think this is lacking a bit: Movies I want to

I read that as sarcasm by the author. I refuse to believe anyone would word it like this without sarcasm.

As a Swiss I'm amazed to find this all over the news today. I didn't even know that this train station clock design is that famous.

I'd look at it like this: A workstation is what you use when computation power and/or memory bandwidth is a limiting factor of your work. This holds true for: - developers of software with long compilation time - 3d animators / professional

I'm torn apart whether this is a good or a silly question. On one hand it's an interesting nitpick on the change of labels / language, on the other hand it feels like Gordon E. Moore should poke you a bit with a stick or something. In other

Now we're applying the word 'skeuomorphic' back to real world objects? The sky is the limit for this new expression. Will it reach inception-esque levels?

Apple doesn't allow anything other than their provided Webkit rendering engine for interpreting websites, in extension to not allowing any third party interpreters in general. They do now allow others to repackage Webkit into their browser

That's a nice definition. I thought of a name for it: Monte Carlo UI. Google seems to like that so much with their 'I'm feeling lucky' button that they had to integrate it system level into their mobile OS.

As an iPhone user at first I thought "yeah, I'm sure I could come up with a similar list, some stuff does bother me as well there". But then I read about those rather mind boggling issues. 'Voice'? Inconsistant UI windows with the same func

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have no problems using C or Java without highlighting, but I wouldn't want to use Python or even Fortran without it, there's just not enough guidance for my taste.

Probably not. However I think there might be more of us if more children got to play with something like lego mindstorms or MIT's scratch or some other sort of fun programming games. I'm actually looking forward to Notch's new game a lot (p

I don't think you can compare it to stories. The only things programming has in common with stories is words and typing. What's different? A story can't be 'wrong' as long as the grammar is used correctly. There (usually) are no hard requir

Since you're here, could you give a statement on this current suit versus Laminar Research? How do you justify suing an independent developer over a common technology provided by Google? Why aren't you suing Google instead?

When it comes to Apple's Retina displays there's a bit more to it than what you're used to: - when OP says 1440x900 he means the pixel doubled version. All GUI lengths / fonts have the size of their 1440x900 versions, but there are twice as

It was 1996 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upzKj-1HaKw ). No, Jobs was certainly never as humble as Musk and I never said that, they definitely have different characters. My point was that we still have to wait on Musk, this man and his c
