I've also spent a lot of time on a side project (gravametrics.com). I never spent $40k on it but I've instead done everything myself and it appears to be a non-starter. I think you need something with a very concise value prop I&#

Few problems with this: > Don’t attach your identity to your code Others in your team will. Example here is a craftsman taking pride in their work. Think about that the next time you are reviewing someone elses work. > Security > R

I've worked with devs who never looked up anything on the internet and tried to do everything from memory and their code was shit. I think here it may have been something else that made this team highly productive. Maybe they had more

All these fancy self drive cars I can't afford on a UK Principle Dev's salary so it's interesting but I'm not sure how mass market these things are or will ever be.

Mostly money, there's plenty of start-up's in europe but the funding is much less than that from USA VC's. There are exceptions to this rule but overall funding is less.

Most of the young grads I've mentored have been a pain the bum, seemed to not want any help and generally had a bad attitude.

I use chrome and you have to enable the special flag for that and I'm not doing that for a single site. I think it's only needs a really small amount of css i.e. some padding/margins a slight change in the background colour a

This is kind of shocking. Most of these are false alerts and negatively impacting this persons day to day life (who takes a laptop to a park!). If that was me I'd either take myself off the on call until the false positives had been fi

One of the interesting things about hiring in tech is that most companies when they try to hire will say it's very hard to hire someone. On the other side of that I see that the same company will get dozen to hundreds to resumes /

It is quite annoying been working now for 16 years in the industry and seeing someone straight out of uni make more than me really rubs me the wrong way. I suck at interviewing though (nervous) and in my area of the world I'm quite wel

I'm pretty sure that those "Got it" cookie consent popups achieve less than nothing. Not only do they not comply with GDPR but the also piss off users where the GDPR doesn't apply. Also the CSS for the popup seems broken

To be honest I would just throw SCRUM into the trash if I could I think it's garbage but following some not quite SCRUM method which is what most companies do is actually insane. The whole process becomes a micromanagers wet dream.
