I have had time to browse through the app. Regarding the nodes, it would be good if the node parameters had too tips, as it is they are labeled very mysteriously. The keyboard-powered brush picker is very useful. I wish Photoshop had one. T

As a traditional and digital painter, there is one unique feature that is easy to overlook: the colors are selectable as true pigments. Painters don't categorize colors using standard terms: red, blue, green etc. Rather they categorize

It depends on what your best hopes for yourself are. You don’t need a lot of creative skill to model something geometric such as furniture or mechanisms. Having modeled it you would need to texture, light and render it. That can required go

I'm not entirely sure what op means by good taste in this context. If we can seperate good taste from best practice, it's that good taste is commonly associated with restraint and economy. Hence, no one can say that Liberace or El

The most significant reason that Blender is in its current position is because of the significant refactoring it undertook starting in version 2.5 I believe. 7 years brewing in the pot! It cant have been easy... but the outcome (Blender 2.

I have always found it odd how in VFX we spend a lot of time degrading our perfect 3D renders: motion blur, film grain, sensor noise and lens blur, which I would call a defocus. I am interested in the application of this research, and imagi

The use of Prussian blue is rampant in most painting programs. The reason is that you are essentially getting two paints for the price of one. When applied thinly, it is light and saturated. When applied thickly it is almost black. Contrast

I used to do a bit of work at Madame Tussaud’s. There they preferred glass eyes to plastic ones for the quality of their shine. It was fun watching them being installed… they were pushed in from the back of the head.

I can imagine a glass eye being very heavy. I have two fake eyes, both plastic. Neither was cheap, but both have been excellently made. A real craft. The thing that required most attention was fitting them… shaving them down to fit my inter

Well... the accident that led to my eye being removed was in my workshop. Specifically, it was caused by my bench saw and its poor maintenance. The initial damage seemed slight but over time, my eye 'felt wrong'- tight and a bit a

Funny story. I have only one eye, and when in public I signify this by wearing a very obvious eye path. Even without the eye patch, my prosthetic eye looks nothing like my functioning eye (by choice). I went to the optician a few weeks ago

Good question. I'm no expert, but I guess that the key issue is one of categorization. Without language, it is impossible to effectively categorize our perceptual domain. It is also true that among mammals, chromatic vision is pretty m

The association of specific wavelengths to hue exists only in our perception, nowhere else. On the other hand, we perceive temperature yet its impact on the physical world is universal.

Add to that the idea that some cultures have fewer color terms than others. This actually impacts upon their perception of color. Check out "Basic Color Terms: Their Universality and Evolution" by Brent Berlin and Paul Kay.

One of the genius decisions of Jeffrey Hawkins was in being laser-focused on the price point of the Palm Pilot. He designed it to be just cheap enough to buy on impulse, which is exactly how I bought mine. Edit: Hawkins = inventor of the Pa
