your comment makes it seem like colonists reintroduced a native species (idk if that was the intention, but that’s how it reads), when in reality the horse species that were once native in South America was quite different from European Hor

I guess that warning is to prevent people from using it on a script because it’s not a stable command. But for normal shell usage, it’s the preferred method.

As an owner of a normal sized car, oversized cars are unnecessarily aggressive towards other people. Both because of the drivers attitude and the design. Some examples: Lights always blind me, they block almost all vision, and have very poo

I think the issue most of the time is that you only start with two states, and you can avoid complexity by not implementing a FSM. But suddenly requirements change, and you have 4 or 5 new states that could go back and forth. The original a

Somewhat unrelated, but I think coding a state machine is a much better interview question than typical leetcode questions. I’ve suffered way too much from ad-hoc written code with state being distributed all over the place in several funct

On the one hand I feel empathy towards the engineers because I know third party bugs can feel somewhat unfair and obscure. On the other hand if I understand correctly, the bug arises from an edge case from an error that was very common. I

It’s a big deal because normally linters have been written in pure python and they are prohibitively slow for large code bases. This tool provides an important speedup that will save my team hour’s of waiting for CI.

I’m pretty sure they were using a high cost LLM to summarize, and for embeddings you only need Ada, which is orders pf magnitude cheaper.

I was waiting for something like this to build the simplest MMO I could (like pixels fighting or something like that). Maybe I’ll try it later this year if my current side project flops (which is highly likely)

They went from indexing with embeddings + LLM to just using a biased embedding for their use case. This should save them most of their costs.

I think in some future we may be able to create something sentient, but it’s not this. AI is just a chain of matrix multiplications and some other tricks. Brains are on a whole other level with much more complex processes, even for ants. It
