agreed. I usually don't like the smell of cloth seats though. plus like I said, polyester still has problems for me. end of the day, I've test driven volvos and they are overpriced for what you get compared to other luxury brands.

for my, I have a sensitivity to synthetic materials like pleather. it traps heat and makes me sweat 10x more from the area that is up against the material. this doesn't happen to me with real leather or cotton. most "cloth"

I didn't come here to criticize, if you notice my first post, I came here to tell others to not to, regardless of my beliefs. then I was specifically asked for more detail, so I answered. and I single out JS because I like programming

Personally, some of it is the language. the need to triple equals and all the type coercion. it's harder to get those wrong with typescript I agree. another is the ecosystem. pnpm feels like a bandaid to a bad package management system

You know, I'm seeing a lot of "why JS and not X" in threads like this. and as much as I'm anti-js, there is a simple answer that's not all that technical: It's what the author likes and wanted, so they built it

I did that for a while, but I want to kind of enforce it. If a sight is unusuable without JS, maybe its worth finding an alternative. Or maybe form a new sub-internet of just javascript-less web. HTML, server-side rendering, etc.

Gemini is great, but I'm would love one step up from this. html/css support, no JS. or Markdown with CSS styling or something that's just a little more than plain text but still close. I've been meaning to try and make m

I'm in the same boat. I still enjoy writing Go, it's my primary language but adding generics is something I have been looking forward to for a long time. there is so much code that could be made simpler or deduplicated with generi

there are tools that solve this. I think it's even called WSL Tools. adds a few things to launch browsers on windows side with urls on Linux side and other things. not sure about java, haven't touched that in over a decade

I don't think that's it. it targets frustrated Linux devs that are tired of Gnome/KDE/X/Wayland wars, and things breaking if you don't do things just right. I spent 2 years on pure Linux and I switched back to

there is also rancher desktop and minikube podman-env that will both work fine as alternatives to docker desktop.

I am in the same boat. Love micro, but the copy/paste newline issue in WSL/Windows Terminal is annoying.

I think this is a neat idea. I wonder if an old school webring style discoverability system could work. or something that can be added to the end of randomly selected podcasts on the service it ones the creator adds.

I owned a PS1 Debugging Station. sold it recently to a collector. my dad bought it at a pawn shop when I was a kid, we didn't know what it was until I learned it could play burned games without a modchip. it was fun.

ya, I can see that. I think its just the overwhelming nature of every little thing going on right now. Having a way to take a break but not completely be off the grid would be nice.

Oh that is really nice hardware. But ya, similar to that. Maybe I will sit down and see if I can design something myself.

Honestly, I have been fantasizing about a device used purely for text messaging, with multiple connection modes (LoRA, LTE, Wifi, etc) and then just dedicate it to messaging. A small device just to send and receive messages either directly,

Oh man, I either had one, or something similar. Or at least wanting one. I thought it would be cool to have dedicated messaging devices.

Slowly plugging away at a resurrection of a very old MMO. writing the server software from scratch as the original was lost to time and life. Got client source and some server files so just reconstructing the server in Go.

Because many want JS to die in a giant hellfire and then shat on the ashes. So alternatives are being made that don't rely on it.

that hasn't been a thing since xhtml. html5 did away with /> for tags that don't have a closing tag. like img, meta, br, etc.

honestly, I have been toying with the idea of building a web browser project that has no JavaScript. just completely ignores the script tag or any JavaScript related things. like onclick, and other attributes.

from my observations of the masses that Alexa and co try to cater to, that's too much work or too technical. we have to remember the average joe/jane don't know what a browser is.
