This could be solved reasonably well with ACLs. Give the git user selective write to the tree rooted at /srv/www/helloworld.

Be wary of having .git accessible to the outside world. If it is routed, possibly due to default web server configuration or an oversight, it can be rather easy to fetch the complete (or in the case of packed refs, nearly complete) histor

Ouch, sorry for not paying better attention; I didn't notice the source to yours. Both approaches appear equally valid and yours appears to be rather more fleshed-out (what with preferences). I didn't mean to denigrate your project, as well

It can be slightly less efficient when (on supporting architectures) the compiler could automatically generate a jump table in place of stacked conditionals, which it cannot do for a chain of ifs.

Why can't they switch to key holds (the likes of which Apple uses)? Hold down Windows+R ('R'ecovery) during boot to access the menu, no frustrated tapping required. It seems like a fair compromise solution between "make a bunch of special i

"This page is not available for mobile viewing at this time." I am assuming that the article is just text, and that that text is somehow not available because my user-agent claims that I am on a mobile device. Why?

I did, but none of that is mentioned in either the original Mozilla blog post or this article. We have no reason to believe that disabling desktop mode precludes an application acting as a Gecko rendering bridge for a Metro UI. They seem co

iOS doesn't actually spawn a new thread for every window in an application. All of the UIKit calls are still very thread-unsafe and expect to be used only from the main thread. This doesn't really cause much of a problem, since apps are pag

Haiku can be built with/for GCC 2 or GCC 4 and ship with libraries for the other. Some time after R1, the gcc2-hybrid releases will probably be flipped to gcc4-hybrid, and the gcc2 libs kept around for backwards-compatibility purposes only.
