This more than makes up for a couple of slightly sparse releases. Congratulations to the whole team, and to you especially for the completion of the new book:

I don't really buy into this. There's still a lot of great academic and intellectual programming on the BBC - Life Scientific and In Our Time come to mind - and British universities are ranked as the best in the world [1]. [1] ht

I was worried that this was the case since Ticki went, to put it bluntly, AWOL around the start of the year. It will surely compromise the development of Redox, but I have faith that in the hands of Jeremy Soller (jackpot51) the project wil

Their point is a valid one though. I don't really think the init process is the right place for timers.

Language evolves. The original authors' intent was conveyed much better, in my view, by 'et. al.' then it would have been by 'etc.' given the shift in how that latter phrase is used.

Have you tried it? If you have - why do you think it shouldn't be as popular as it is? If not, perhaps in using it you will discover why it is popular.

Would be interesting to see this applied to Rust. Obviously physical side-effect attacks (timing, EM) are still a concern and LLVM optimisations need to be considered as with the Clang toolchain, but massive swathes of UB are eliminated whe

Strikes me that it's just a rebranding of flatshares for people who consider themselves too old and too professional to be living out a Peep Show esque post-university existence.

It's nothing to do with the fact that it's about software development, I don't think (or at least hope). I just find it jarring to see 'her' used as an 'abstract' gender neutral pronoun. In my mind, '

That's interesting, since 'her' in this context causes something equivalent to a Parse Error in my brain, but 'their' flows completely naturally for me.

Nailed it. How many Onion articles have you seen end with a quip of the form "at press time". The articles have a flavour all of their own, which is certainly quite distinct from the deeper satirical mood.
