This looks right for what it lists but it misses many costs. You also need a bigger house to support the kids, and a bigger car to carry them around, plus car seats, food, clothes, toys, and furniture. They will destroy parts of your house

I think if you had the opportunity to go to an inexpensive school or an expensive school and you chose to take loans and go to the expensive one, then you chose the loans. That said, I think we are all victims of the horrible free-financial

> “The low-sleep phase is temporary.” Nope. “Same goes for changing diapers” Nope. Huh? Does your child have an issue where they never grow out of diapers? For the vast majority of people, the diaper phase is temporary.

> Real parents consistently make it clear how terrible having kids is. What world do you live in? I have 4 (soon to be 5) kids myself and I’m happy with my choices. I know many families with kids, and only a small percentage seem unhappy

We’re at a similar price level. But I refuse to feed the tax software lobbying machine. They are responsible for how hard it is to file taxes, and their lobbying kills every attempt to fix it.

I mostly agree. I have three DSLRs and several very high-end lenses, but I take way more photos of my kids with my phone than with the DSLRs. The workflow for getting shots out of the phone is just so much better than the cameras, and the p

It may be over-softening. Our water felt slimy until we replaced our old unit. The new unit uses way less salt (at least 10x less) and the water feels normal.

This is all in the context of Buffet's quote, where one person owns all of the Bitcoin in the world at the same time. In that situation, there is no scarce resource that has value. People can create as many new cryptocurrencies as they

I totally agree. I had zero interest in Universal Control when it came out but now I use it every day. Some things just work better on the Mac, some work better on the iPad, and it's really nice to be able to seamlessly use both at onc

The article makes good points. One more point is that you have to be tactful, depending on the context. A lot of what separates appropriate criticism from just being a jackass is in how it’s delivered.

You're comparing the average expenses to the median income, which isn't the right measure. You're also comparing average household expenses to individual income. But let's assume you weren't. $1300 per week adds

I’m surprised by that. Pretty much the only thing I use Siri for is voice control of music in the car, and it nails it most times. I’d say there is a transcription error maybe 10% if the time, or less.
