CDNs are designed to easily handle relatively static content (e.g., Netflix-like streaming services). Scaling user-generated video serving is a much more challenging problem.

Xperia Play was a magical device. I played so many emulated retro games on mine! Good times.

Yep, either Hebrew or Arabic would be my choice. Both are relatively well-structured and have existed for a very long time. Arabic has the advantage of having a larger number of users/speakers.

Correction: Grendizer was dubbed by a Lebanese studio. In general, Lebanon, Syria, and Kuwait are the big players in the anime dubbing space. Egypt is known for dubbing US cartoons.

Future Boy Conan - renamed “Adnan wa Lina” (Adnan and Lina) - was (and still is) one of the most popular cartoons in the Middle East and North Africa. It and UFO Robo Grendizer (and a bunch of other anime) were picked up by a Kuwaiti dubbin

Yeah, bad questions is one part of it. Lex also tends to interject with his own observations or anecdotes that end up interrupting the guest's flow. I'm tuning in because of the guest, not the host. In a guest-oriented format like

I watched some clips from the interview, good stuff. I personally don’t like Lex’s interviewing style though, so I couldn’t watch the whole thing.

On the contrary, even older routers can handle this load with no sweat. Service provider-grade routers can handle 10 to 200 Tbps depending on size.

So Intel is 2 years behind volume production of 5nm by TSMC and Samsung. To me, that sounds like a significant delay in capability. Anyways, I think the CHIPS Act was the right move at the right time. SMIC is quickly catching up thanks to n

> Because oncall is split between sites, you are never oncall overnight. Doesn’t this only apply to SRE rotations? The dev teams I know of are definitely oncall overnight.

Ah, I think that’s referring to some of the suppliers (and IP) ASML uses to build its machines, not the EUV tech itself. If you think about it, ASML wouldn’t be this critical to semiconductor fabrication if it didn’t control the patents for

Uh.. what? Can you share a link? As far as I am aware, it’s the exact opposite: over the years, ASML licensed some of their patents to US companies.

There’s a bit more to IC fabrication than lithography. Regardless, I’d go further and argue that we should be building up the capability to manufacture our own EUV lithography machines.

There is a crucial difference between IC fabrication and almost everything else: we don’t even have the capability to fabricate at the most advanced nodes. On the other hand, we are capable of manufacturing everything else; we just need a

Someone more knowledgeable can probably chime in, but my understanding is that, yes, fabs in general do employ a good number of PhDs.

I’m not an expert on the financials, but R&D costs need to be recouped somehow. My uneducated guess is that R&D expenditures are amortized across fabs in the form of indirect costs.

All of the above. You need thousands of highly skilled engineers to operate an advanced fab. You need extremely advanced and expensive specialized equipment - look up ASML for a general idea of what this equipment does. You need a huge, pur

Of course, but I think this approach signals intent a bit more clearly: we want to get error handling out of the way and then just proceed with the happy path. It’s also a tad less verbose.
