Replace Palestinians with Black South Africans, and imagine this offer was made in 1990 to the ANC, then reread your comment.

They are not going to be able eliminate or disarm Hamas by force. Heck, they only were able to “rescue” the vast majority of hostages via negotiation. The only way forward is negotiation.

Okay, so you have rationalized to yourself why there was “no alternative” by essentially saying that Democrats were absolutely helpless to do anything - an act of God was in their way, so to speak. Now, you ask what could Democrats have don

I don’t see it as “letting Trump win”. I see it as “not supporting the Democrats because they don’t want my vote”. If you want to blame someone for Trump winning, blame the Democrats. Of course, on paper, yes, if these were automatons with

No, it’s more like: fuck the American gov for materially supporting a genocide [of Palestinians]. And that’s a bad analogy. AIPAC is literally buying out elected officials, while I am simply participating in democracy by choosing how to use

Yes, we did know Trump is a disaster. Perhaps Democrats should have met their voterbase somewhere in the middle to reduce the risk of losing to Trump? Of course, they didn’t, so to me the Harris campaign is to blame more than the third-part

This is what people don’t understand, because it isn’t their single issue. If I beg you to reconsider on a very serious issue that is in your power to change stance on, and you not only ignore me but laugh in my face, then why exactly do

I feel like most Gentoo folks probably moved over to Nix/NixOS. The security argument for recompiling from source is addressed by the input addressed (sic) package cache. The customization aspect is mostly covered by Nix package overri

I have never seriously used a BEAM language (Elixir/Erlang/Gleam), but for me, it’s the opposite: the most attractive part of Gleam is that it runs on BEAM :) My reservations at this point are mostly around maturity of the languag

You know what I mean, but I will expand. No phone company is releasing a flagship SFF phone because there simply is no mainstream consumer demand for one. In fact, demand has been dead for many years now. Good for you that you have a iPhone

What is clear is that this has escalated to a diplomatic crisis at the highest levels on the Korean side. Definitely bodes well for future interest in investing in advanced manufacturing in the US.

Yep. It works even better on a declarative distro like NixOS because you can define and extend your systemd services (including containers) from a single config. Taking this further (self-plug), you can automatically map your Compose config

No, it’s not symbolic of anything. The reality is that the UK has long been relegated to the status of a non-world power, but still acts as if it is one by clinging onto its colonial past. This reminds me of an interview with the CCP spokes

Good question. No, because there is a fiqh (jurisprudence) rule that roughly states “necessities permit the prohibited”, which can be used to override the impurity of pigs. In addition, some scholars (a minority) argue that perhaps one reas

That’s one of my Go pet peeves - zero/default structs are sometimes valid and sometimes not, and the only way to know is to dig into the docs. I prefer the API to speak for itself, ideally enforced by the language/compiler.

But if you’re looking at the package API, there is no alternative constructor for Group, which makes it seem as if the most common default is to construct a Group using WithContext. Also, 2/3 of the examples use WithContext. My recomme
