What a very websitey web site. My first thought when I saw that home page was "boy, I bet if I keep scrolling, there's going to be empty areas on the page where things obnoxiously animate into place" and BOY HOWDY. For your f

This feels an awful lot like an XY problem, so forgive me for asking this, but for what purpose do you need the key repeat rate to be faster than the maximum? Is it just a matter of wanting the speeds in macOS and Ubuntu to match up?

As a web developer, I certainly agree that doing this sort of stuff using web techs is almost certainly like using a howitzer to swat a fly, especially when security is a concern, and I'm kinda surprised… well, not surprised, but more

Given roughly equivalent line waits, I've found human checkers tend to be much faster if you have more than a handful of items - they know where the barcodes are on the items so they don't have to play the game where you try to fi

As a huge fan of the Portal games, I feel your pain. I really miss them. Unfortunately Valve doesn't really seem to be in the market of making actual games anymore, so we'll probably never see a 64-bit upgrade. But like I said, I&

Well, I wasn't really bringing it up as proof of Mac superiority, but it's certainly a better experience than one can get from non-native programs. I personally don't get all the hate for Xcode, but whatever. To each their ow

Steam exists on Mac, and while there are plenty of games that don't have Mac ports that I wish I could play (Stray being the most recent), there are still enough to keep me perpetually backlogged, and the limits are probably best for m

Let me try restating my point: Windows users know how to be productive in Windows. How many of these people will be willing to give up that knowledge for a Mac that may be faster in terms of brute speed but with which they will, at least in

Neither of those are Mac applications. One is an Electron pile of ass and the other is a Java pile of ass. See Xcode or Nova for examples of real Mac IDEs/editors. But note that my post was not just talking about development tools. I g

To be fair, the original author of the quoted article is probably doing most of the smoking of things. All Gruber did is restate it and add the obnoxious political snipe at the end. Windows people, how much faster would a non-Windows machin

Please try accessing that prototype with JavaScript disabled, and see why I feel this is also the wrong approach for the successor to classic forums. Just put the web page content onto the web page. Nobody ever died by doing that.
